Dear Applicant,
Thank you for being interested in a Program staff position at Pennsylvania Lions Beacon Lodge Camp. We welcome all compassionate individuals interested in working with adults and youth living with intellectual and developmental (physical) disabilities.
We operate two independent camps here at Beacon Lodge, one for youth and one for adults, with unique sessions at each camp. There are seven sessions in each. In our Adult Camp, We have 6-day/5-night sessions for campers with mild to moderate disabilities. We also have 11-day/10-night sessions for independent adults. In our Children’s Village, we have 6-day/5-night sessions based on the youth’s diagnosis. We are a residential camp, so you must live and remain on campus during sessions. During time off, between sessions, you may leave campus or stay and enjoy our facilities.
Everyone in our Program department is required to attend all training. Unit Directors Pre-Camp Training begins on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM. General Counselors Pre-Camp Training begins on Monday, June 3, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM. Unit Directors must attend the General Counselor Training also. Program staff must arrive the day before their Pre-Camp Training begins to unpack and settle in; There will be no time for unpacking once training begins. The Adult Camp and the Children’s Camp’s first camp session will start on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 9:00 AM. All camp sessions begin on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM. Program staff are on-campus (every session) from 9:00 AM Saturday until 4:00 PM each session end date. Break are given throughout the day and the Program staff will have off between sessions from 4:00 PM the day a session ends until 9:00 AM when the next session begins. The 2024 Season will end on Friday, August 16, 2023, at 4:00 PM.

Good professional references could be former teachers, professors, employers, co-workers, pastors, or professional colleagues. Please do not use family or friends as professional references; This will delay application processing. We will have to contact you to resubmit references and thus add time. Once the application is received, the individuals listed on the reference page will receive an email with a reference evaluation that needs to be filled out and sent back in. The references you provide should be individuals who can testify to your character, work performance, and demeanor. We may also contact your previous employers.
Also included in the application are a few questions to help us learn about you and where best to place you in our Program department. Please take time to read and respond to these questions.
