The Arts by the Sea Festival is a contemporary festival of combined arts that takes place in Bournemouth gardens, square and seafront. The main 2022 festival takes place between Friday 30th September and Sunday 2nd October and we have two additional events in Christchurch and West Howe on 10th and 24th September This role will assist the festival team by providing information to the public about the festival performances (locations and times) and working with artists to ensure that they are supported in their performance. You will work closely with members of the public so will be an advocate, promoting the festival and using local knowledge to ensure that the public get the best experience from their visit.
We are looking for volunteers for a minimum of a four-hour shift between:
Christchurch 10.00am and 6.00pm on Saturday 10th September
West Howe 10.00am and 6.00pm on Saturday 24th September
Bournemouth Town Centre 4.00pm and 9.00pm on Friday 30th September
Bournemouth Town Centre 10.00am and 9.00pm on Saturday 1st October
Bournemouth Town Centre 10.00am and 8.00pm on Sunday 2nd October
The senior volunteer role is to:

to engage with audience members, talking to them about the festival, explaining what’s going on,guiding to performances, suggesting what would be interesting to see, how to take part andmaking sure they are enjoying their visit

guide and support new volunteers
- promote the festival by giving information to the public about locations and performances
- encourage people to fill out a survey about the festival
- support and help steward artists during their performance
Skills and qualifications required:
- be over 18
- be able to talk to people in a friendly manner
- good communication and organisational skills
- able to make own travel arrangements (travel passes may be available)
- desire to help the Arts by the Sea Festival reach its goals
- commitment to your hours and to give us as much notice as possible if you can attend
- able to listen to and follow instructions from the festival team
- act and represent the Council in a suitable manner when wearing the Arts by the Sea festival uniform
- agree to work within BCP Council's values, policies and procedures as outlined in the volunteer policy
- attend induction training which is planned during September
