Sunnyslope is currently facing tremendous pressure from land developers to rezone our agricultural region to residential and commercial. Subdividing and commercializing this beautiful slope may make a few out-of-state and local developers wealthy but it will ruin this pristine fruit and wine region forever. You can help stop this by appealing to our 3 Canyon County Commissioners and our local government officials by voicing your concern here over the push to split up Sunnyslope.
This petition is to fight rezoning Sunnyslope farmland into residential and commercial subdivisions. The soil and climate of this unique area create one of the greatest growing regions in the country for seed, fruit and wine grapes. The land should not be locked up in private neighborhoods or occupied with businesses that do not directly support the Agricultural and Agritourism goals of our region. Homes in Canyon County agriculture or agritourism areas should never be approved unless the property owner already has an allowed property split.
Putting Sunnyslope under concrete and asphalt can never be undone. If allowed, it will take something special and irreplaceable away from our children and grandchildren and forever change our landscape.
Our hope is to save Sunnyslope, prevent rezoning and move in the direction of other wine/agriculture regions that have been successfully preserved.
Save Sunnyslope! Prevent this beautiful and productive agricultural region from being buried under neighborhoods of asphalt and concrete. Give us your signature below to save this land.
