The Church Matching Scholarship was revised to enable churches and Williams to join together in a common goal of assisting students in their pursuit of a Christian education. Williams will match dollar for dollar designated Christian church gifts for Williams’ students up to, but not exceeding, $3,500 per academic year per student. Williams Works students may participate in the church matching scholarship, but Williams will match contributions up to $1,000 per year from the student's church.
GUIDELINES
a) The scholarship program will only match funds from individual evangelical churches. Gifts from denominations (e.g. ABSC, ABA, etc.) or para-church organizations (e.g. Campus Crusade for Christ, etc.) are not included in this matching gift program. The recommended student must be an active member of the church that provides the scholarship.
b) Students who receive this scholarship must be enrolled full-time at Williams.
c) Matching funds will not exceed $3,500 per academic year (fall term, spring term, and summer term). Williams Works students may participate in the church matching scholarship, but Williams will match contributions up to $1,000 per year from the student's church.
d) Scholarship funds must be sent on a church check. In accordance with IRS guidelines, contributions for this scholarship program are from the church and do not represent designated gifts from an individual for a particular student.
e) Williams matching funds can only be used to cover current actual costs charged to the student’s account within the current academic year and will not be used for past bills. Any unused matching portion of the scholarship may be moved forward to another semester within the same academic year, but cannot be transferred to another future academic year. If unused matching funds exist after the summer semester, they will be forfeited.
f) Church Matching funds cannot exceed the cost of tuition, fees, room, and board.
g) A separate scholarship form and church check must be submitted for each student.
h) The Office of Financial Aid reserves the right to request additional documentation from the church participating in the Williams Church Matching Scholarship Program to verify eligibility.
