Describe your farm plan
The Incubator Farm was established in 2013 to support beginning farmers by providing low-cost access to land. While the Common Ground Program aspires to offer beginner level training in the future, at this time, this program is best suited for those who possess some level of prior education or life experience in agriculture. We are looking for evidence that you or your group have some prior knowledge, as well as a thoughtful plan moving forward. Plots at the Incubator Farm range in size from 0.25 acres to 0.5 acres.
The Common Ground Program will be able to provide some education and support as your start your new farm, but please let us know about any prior education and/or life experience with agriculture and gardening that you believe will make you a strong participant. (Include anything relevant: farm employment, internships, family traditions that have been passed down, etc.)
Have you had any education and/or life experience in anything besides agriculture that relates to starting and maintaining a successful farm? If so, describe the type of education. (For example: ecological studies, botany, business planning, chemistry and accounting are all topics that can help support a successful farmer. You might have taken classes at an institution, or participated in some hands-on projects related to farming as an apprentice or employee, etc).
Describe your crop plan below: what crops do you plan to grow and why?
If you have any pictures or drawings that describe your farm plan, upload them here.

What kinds of practices do you plan on using to steward the land at the Incubator Farm? Do you have experience with sustainable, regenerative and/or organic agriculture? Describe any hands-on experience or exposure to these kinds of agricultural practices below. (Education or self-education through reading on these practices is relevant to this question!)
Your lease at the Incubator Farm will include a commitment to add value to our community. Describe at least one way you plan to benefit the community with access to this land. (Your community could include: citizens of Douglas County, food justice organizations, the Common Ground communities of urban farmers and incubator farmers, etc.) Examples of how our current and previous farmers have given back to the community are: by donating produce, providing agricultural demonstrations, agricultural research, fostering an educational opportunity for local school-aged children, and planting native pollinator plants in order to fortify the local ecosystem, etc.
Farmers will work with Common Ground staff on a yearly basis to evaluate their season on the leased plot, and lease extensions will be based on that co-collaborative process. Your plot will be adjacent to at least one other farmer at the Incubator farm. Resources such as water spigots, the wash-pack area, barn, and some communal tools are shared with all farmers on site. What can you and/or your group bring to the farm in order to foster a culture of cooperation and mutual respect?
