    "The Sydney & Gladys Kaiser Vocational Scholarship was inspired by the love Mr. & Mrs. Kaiser had for the Yoakum community & its Rotary Club, the warm fellowship & friendship they found there, & the fulfillment they found in Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self”.   • Qualifying students must be U.S. Citizens residing within the Yoakum Independent School District. The selected recipient will receive $15,000 towards qualifying educational expenses payable to the recipient's school of choice. At the sole discretion of the Foundation and the sponsors, the scholarship may be awarded to a single applicant or among multiple applicants. The top 3 applicants will undergo an interview conducted by David Keith & Susan Kaiser as part of the overall selection process. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors of Yoakum High School or Private Schools within the Yoakum Independent School District and active secondary level students pursuing their vocational certification.

  • Vocational is defined as education that prepares students for jobs, careers at various levels from a trade to a craft, or a position in engineering, accounting, nursing, medicine, and other healing arts, architecture, agriculture, building trades, energy development, pharmacy, and law that do not require a 4-year college degree to perform. Please note that this scholarship is not intended for students wanting to attend a community college or technical school with the intent of later transferring any credits earned to a 4-year, upper-level college.

    The Scholarship committee charged with making a selection consider the following criteria:

     1.     Academics, which includes class standing, test scores, the difficulty of courses taken, etc.

    2.     Outside activities which include community service, church, school (extracurricular activities), and work activities
