The SGIF process can be completed in either in-person or online course formats.
In-Person Process
The SGIF takes about 25-30 minutes of classtime, during which the instructor steps out of the room to allow the SGIF facilitator to lead a confidential small group discussion, in which students respond to three questions:
1) What is going well in this course so far?
2) Do you have specific suggestions that could help improve your learning?
3) What other comments do you have about the learning environment?
Around a week later, the SGIF facilitator meets with the instructor to discuss the students' responses.
Online Process | Reserved for 800 or 700 course sections
During the online process, students respond to the same three questions as the in-person process via an online questionnaire. Once complete, the SGIF facilitator meets with the instructor to discuss the students' responses.
Synchronous Online Option: Similar to the in-person small group discussions, the SGIF facilitator meets with your students via Zoom.
