Dental X-ray Options- Small Animals
Under the current PIPS By-Law, practices are not required to have dental x-ray machines when providing dental services to small animals. Ultimately, concerns about a practice providing dental services without an x-ray would be determined on a case by case basis by a Peer Review Committee (should a complaint be filed). The Ad Hoc PIPS Rewrite Committee is seeking your feedback on the possible changes to the rules: (please note 3 options will be presented)
Option 1
A rule that each practice that provides dental services to small animals be required to have a dental X-ray unit
Should the MVMA adopt option 1?

Consent statement should read that the client acknowledges that x-ray is recommended, that they are receiving dental services without x-ray, the risks involved, and that referral to another clinic will be required should the need for x-ray arise.
