In order to ensure that we have a clear understanding of what we can expect from one another, we have set out some guidelines around those expectations.
Your Business Advisor Will:
- Assist you in reaching informed decisions about your business idea.
- Be committed to helping you achieve your goals.
- Explain the importance of a comprehensive business plan, and help you understand each section as you develop your plan.
- Be a valuable member of your network of business professionals, and refer you to our business partners who may have information that will assist you and your business.
- Post updates and notifications regarding upcoming workshops and events that may be of value to you and your business.
- Listen and be attentive, providing honest and meaningful feedback.
- Follow up in a timely manner.
- Obtain your permission in writing before discussing your business idea, plan or operations with anyone outside our organization.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest that may prevent your advisor from supporting you honestly and fairly.
A few things Your Advisor can NOT do:
- Make business decisions for you. We know you understand this is YOUR business and decisions are yours to make. You are the only one who can be accountable for your business decisions.
- Personally negotiate any business dealings on your behalf.
- Create your business plan for you. Your Advisor will help every step of the way, but creating the plan is up to you.
- Provide legal, accounting or any other technical advice. Breach your confidentiality. We take your privacy seriously, and will go to great lengths to protect it! We will not share your contact information without your express written consent.
- Take responsibility for the success of your business.
As a TBC Client, you WILL:
- Notify your advisor in a reasonable amount of time when you are not able to attend a scheduled meeting.
- Arrive to meetings prepared.
- Present your busienss plan in an appropriate format so that it can be easily read and reviewed by your advisor.
- Keep track of all workshop and networking events you have expressed interest in attending, and confirm your attendance with your Advisor once completed.
- Take initiative! Complete tasks within the agreed upon time frame.
- Be as open, honest and willing to participate in the learning process.
- Respect professional boundaries at all times. Communication with your Advisor using ONLY the channels that you have both agreed to.
