Before You Begin
Your application is not saved or completed until all fields are filled and you click the “submit” button one time at the bottom of the page to submit. Please click only once.

Once you have successfully submitted your application, you will receive an email confirmation. You can expect to hear from a member of the OUR HOUSE team within the next few weeks after you receive this confirmation.

The application will take about 20 minutes to complete. With this in mind, we recommend doing the following prior to the start of the application:

1. Read the Volunteer Group Leader FAQs on our website.

2. Check your calendar for your availability for the upcoming training dates. We are offering a Spring 2026 Training and Fall 2026 Training the remainder of this year.

3. Decide on three people who you would like to provide as a reference and make sure you have their contact information, specifically their email address. We request a minimum of two professional references; the third may be a personal reference.
Requirements/Expectations

I am 21 years old or older.I reside in the state of California and do not anticipate moving out of state.I am not, nor are any of my dependents, currently in a group as a participant in OUR HOUSE’s programs.If I am an alumnus of an OUR HOUSE group, I understand that my group must have ended one year ago or more for me to be eligible to apply for a volunteer group leader position.I understand that I will be asked to share about my own experiences with grief, death and loss (if any) throughout the application, screening, and training process. I am comfortable talking about this with OUR HOUSE Staff as well as other applicants and trainees.I understand that OUR HOUSE uses a non-disclosure group model in which group leaders do not share about themselves and specifically do not share their own grief experiences with group members.I am able to commit to leading a group and attending supervision every other week for a year or longer (approximately 10-15 hours a month).If committing to lead groups online, I understand that I am responsible to have a private space to conduct groups, a secure and stable internet connection, and an internet-capable, secure device with a microphone and camera. I also understand that I will have to demonstrate proficiency in using technology including, but not limited to email, Zoom, and electronic forms.If committing to lead groups in one of the satellite programs (School or Spanish Satellite Program), I understand that I am responsible to travel to various locations throughout Los Angeles as needed and to be determined after my training if I am accepted.I am available for all dates of one of the next three upcoming Volunteer Group Leader Trainings. I understand that all dates of one of the training sessions are required for my consideration as a volunteer group leader at OUR HOUSE.I understand that my submission of this online application is the first step in the screening process and that I will engage in a mutually evaluative process with OURHOUSE Staff to determine the strategic fit for me in this role, including a phone screening, possible interview, and possible training.I understand that if I am selected to participate in training, that does not guarantee that I will be onboarded as a volunteer group leader. I understand that OUR HOUSE staff have the responsibility of clinical discernment to select the applicants who are well-suited for leading grief support groups within the OUR HOUSE model.I understand that if it is determined to be a strategic fit, I will have to complete a Livescan (electronic finger printing for background checks) and my references will be checked prior to any direct service as a volunteer group leader.I understand that OUR HOUSE does not provide its volunteers with any clinical hours for professional licensure or other professional or educational requirements.I understand that OUR HOUSE does not provide any other benefit to its volunteers, other than the support, education and training needed for the position of group leader at OUR HOUSE.I understand that referring OUR HOUSE participants to the personal business or private practice of any volunteer or volunteer applicant is not allowed, out of respect for ethical boundaries and the need to avoid conflict of interest.I understand that my application will be considered for one of the next three scheduled trainings and that if I am not available for any of them, that I will have to reapply in the future.
