Complete the following activities:
1. Carefully read the following:
This project requires you to lead corporate social responsibility (CSR) in your
organisation by considering two different areas or opportunities (such as
environmental responsibility, ethical responsibility, philanthropic responsibility or
economic responsibility). To do this, you will work as a team with relevant
stakeholders to establish CSR objectives and a CSR Policy and then integrate it
into your organisation’s systems, processes and procedures.
Vocational education and training is all about gaining and developing practical skills
that are industry relevant and that can help you to succeed in your chosen career.
For this reason, we are giving you the choice to base this project on your own
business, one you work in or a familiar with, or you can use the case study
provided. This will mean that you are applying your knowledge and skills in a
relevant, practical and meaningful way to your own situation!
You will be collecting evidence for this unit in a Project Portfolio. The steps you
need to take are outlined below. It is important that you are able to access enough
information for your chosen business in order to be able to do your assessment.
If you are basing this assessment on the case study, the information you need to
complete this project is contained in the Simulation Pack.
If you are basing this assessment on your own business, make sure you have
access to sufficient information to complete the assessment steps (as described in
the blue boxes throughout the instructions below). Before you continue, have your
business or case study approved by your assessor.
Make sure you are familiar with the organisation you are basing this assessment on
and have read through the necessary background information.
Complete Page 4 of your Project Portfolio for this unit.
Read through the requirements of Section 1, 2 and 3 of your Project Portfolio.
Start working on Section 1 of your Project Portfolio. Steps 2 to 3 form part of Section 1.If you are basing this assessment on the case study, refer to the Simulation Pack for required information.
If you are basing this assessment on a business of your own choice, make sure you have access to:
• information about organisational objectives/goals including sustainability objectives
(e.g. from a Strategic Plan)
• organisational requirements for leading CSR (e.g. Communication Policy, Sustainability
Policy etc.).
2. Prepare to develop a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy
First, do research to summarise emerging approaches and best practice in CSR for
your organisation and the industry in which it operates.
Access a variety of information sources to describe the organisation you are basing
this assessment on and its CSR culture.
Discuss the benefits, barriers to and drivers for CSR in your organisation and
identify opportunities for future CSR opportunities in your organisation.
Also, analyse the organisational, legislative and regulatory requirements for CSR.
i Attach proof of your information sources (e.g. internet websites, strategic plan and policies and procedures).

3. Develop a Draft Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
Consider two areas or opportunities for CSR in your organisation as you identify
objectives for CSR and develop a Draft CSR Policy. Your policy should include at
least:
• Policy purpose
• Definition of CSR
• Scope
• Policy description/elements/opportunities
• Roles and responsibilities
Also, identify the stakeholders who may provide input for your CSR Policy.
Plan to integrate CSR across your organisation and describe the changes needed
for the integration to take place.
Make sure the opportunities are for two different areas (environmental
responsibility, ethical responsibility, philanthropic responsibility or economic
responsibility). For example, you may choose to reduce waste in the office and also
increase donations to help underprivileged children.
You are required to develop your own policy. Make sure your objectives include
specific numerical targets (e.g. replace 10 company vehicles with electric cars).
The following websites may provide guidance for objectives and your policy:
Website 1: https://ccsbestpractice.org.uk/entries/corporate-social-responsibilitypolicy-template/
Website 2: https://resources.workable.com/corporate-social-responsibilitycompany-policy
Examples of change management provisions for integrating the policy may be:
• adapting the organisation’s values (updating the strategic plan)
• updating existing policies and procedures that relate to CSR (such as
recycling, donations etc.)
• set KPIs (to be added to the strategic plan).
Make sure you have answered all questions in Section 1.
You are required to attach certain documents as part of your evidence – review the
documents you need to attach as outlined in Section 1 of the Project Portfolio.
Submit Section 1 to your assessor
4. Seek stakeholder input for CSR in your organisation
explain your proposed CSR objectives and policy
• agree on the CSR objectives
• seek stakeholder input to identify any further additions or alterations required
to the policy
• agree on a final CSR Policy
• discuss and negotiate how the policy will be integrated into the organisation
including the changes required to integrate the agreed policy into the
organisation’s systems, processes and procedures.
• demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills including:
o speaking clearly and concisely to convey information
using terminology appropriate for your organisation, the industry and CSR
o asking and responding to questions as you discuss CSR
o allowing others the chance to present their views
o listening and consider what other say
o cooperating to reach agreement when negotiating.
This meeting should take 20 minutes. It may take place with actual people who
work for/are associated with your chosen organisation. Alternatively, classmates or
your assessor may play the role of one or more team members.
This can either be viewed in person by your assessor or you may like to video
record the session for your assessor to watch later. Your assessor can provide you
with more details at this step. Make sure you follow the instructions below and meet the timeframes allocated. If this session is not viewed in person by your assessor,
you will attach proof of the meeting to Section 2 of your Project Portfolio.
5. Prepare and distribute a final CSR Policy.
Update your Draft CSR Policy to incorporate the stakeholder input. Then,
draft an email to the stakeholders who attended the meeting to distribute the final
policy to them (assume that the policy is attached to the email).
i Use formal and professional business language in your final CSR Policy and email
to stakeholders.
6. Manage change to integrate CSR across the organisation.
Choose one provision from your integration plan (in Section 1) and action it.
Also, communicate the CSR strategy to employees and external stakeholders by
creating a notice to be emailed to staff members and writing a blogpost for
clients/customers and other external stakeholders.
i Use formal and professional business language for your notice and email to staff.
For the case study, you are required to update the strategic plan.
Make sure you have answered all questions in Section 2.
You are required to attach certain documents as part of your evidence – review the
documents you need to attach as outlined in Section 2 of the Project Portfolio.
Submit Section 2 to your assessor.
Start working on Section 2 of your Project Portfolio. Step 7 forms part of Section 2.
Assume that a period of time has passed.
If you are using the case study, additional information to complete this step is contained in
the Simulation Pack. Your assessor will provide role-play participants for your stakeholder
meeting. You assessor will also have provided review information specific to your CSR
policy and objectives (when marking Section 2 of your Project Portfolio).
7. Monitor and evaluate Corporate Social Responsibility integration.
First, write a report on the CSR progress to date. Your report should summarise,
analyse and present numerical information to determine whether objectives have
been achieved.
i Use formal and professional business language in your report.
Meet with the same stakeholders you met with previously. At your meeting:
• present your report
• seek their feedback on how CSR has been integrated into the organisation to
review the success of the integration efforts to date
• work as a team to identify further support required to successfully integrate the
strategy
• demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills, including:
o speaking clearly and concisely to convey information

available to review the progress made in implementing the CSR Policy (e.g. recycling and waste percentages, number of lightbulbs replaced, financial donations made etc.). Make sure you have access to stakeholders who are willing to participate in a meeting to be viewed by your assessor.
Make sure you have completed all sections of your Project Portfolio, answered all
questions, provided enough detail as indicated and proofread for spelling and
grammar as necessary. Remember to submit all necessary attachments as
indicated.
