Application for a Tantrum OPEN Scholarship

Thanks to the Tantrum OPEN Scholarship program, we are able to offer young people facing disadvantage (including social isolation, financial hardship, mental health barriers and/or disability) one year’s (i.e. four school terms) free attendance at our Drama Workshops.

There are two main parts to the OPEN Scholarship application. Parents or carers must fill in this simple Eligibility Form, and they must also supply a Referral Letter (uploaded through this form) from a certified health, education, or social work professional. Please refer to the Applicant Info Pack for more information.

OPEN Scholarship places are limited, though we are always endeavouring to offer more! If we receive more eligible applications than we have scholarships available, we will award scholarships on the basis of who we believe stands to gain the most from attending Tantrum workshops.

Applications are always open but will only be assessed quarterly, in time for the start of each school term. Any applications received during school terms may still be consider for a scholarship for the current term if there are places available - otherwise your application will be considered for the following Term (if you opt in for carry-over).

Eligibility Declaration

In order to be eligible for a Tantrum OPEN Scholarship, you need to answer 'Yes' to at least one of the following questions, which relate to our major selection criteria:
Is the applicant experiencing social isolation? (e.g. Does your child find it difficult to make friends? Have they recently moved to a new school? Did they find it difficult to cope with pandemic related isolation?)*

Are you experiencing financial hardship? (e.g. Are you currently experiencing financial difficulties which make it challenging to afford creative and fun experiences for the applicant? Do your financial circumstances make it difficult to make long-term plans or commitments for the applicant?)*

Referral Letter
We accept referrals from the following certified health, social work, or education professionals:
- GPs
- Support workers
- Social workers
- Psychologists and counsellors
- Occupational therapists
- Teachers
We ask that the referee has had an ongoing professional relationship (i.e. as a patient, client, or student – not just as a family member or friend) with the applicant for at least six months.

Please supply your referee with the Applicant Info Pack, as this will help them with their letter.
