Prospect Park Recreation Department Code of Conduct:
This code applies to all Prospect Park Recreation Department activities, including practices, games, team events and actions while attending any Prospect Park Recreation Department events. The essential elements of character building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and sex core principles: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Good Sportsmanship. The high’s potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects there six pillars.
I Will:
- Remember that children participate to have fun and the game is for the youth, not adults.
- Inform the coach of any physical disability or aliment that may affect the safety of my child or others.
- Learn with rules of the game and policies of the league.
- Along with my guests be a positive role model.
- Encourage sportsmanship.
- Encourage my child to treat others (players, coaches official and spectators) with respect.
- Encourage my child to always do their best.
- Encourage my child to play by the rules and accept the decisions made by those in charge.
- Respect (officials, coaches) and their authority during practices and games and speak to them clear of children.
- Understand the best place to watch the game is from the bleachers.
- Be on time for pick up from games and practices.
I WILL NOT:
- Force my child to participate in sports.
- Engage in any kind of sportsman like conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as but not limited to booing, taunting, refusing to shake hands or using profane language or gestures.
- Ridicule or yell at my child or other participants.
- Use alcohol, drugs, or smoke within the vicinity of the playing field.
- Coach my child from the bleachers, I understand that their coaches give of their time and if I choose, I can become active and volunteer.
- Leave my child unattended without notifying the coach.
