Purpose
The Jesse Kolmos Memorial Scholarship is given to a current SJCA boy entering his Sophomore, Junior, Senior Year and involved in the SJCA baseball program. Jesse, the father of two children, Robert (’61) and Denise (’73), was a lifelong Kenosha resident and business owner. Jesse was a strong believer in the value of a Catholic education and serving his community. He loved baseball at all levels and was part of an ownership group that brought the Kenosha Twins, a minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Twins to Kenosha in the 1980’s.
The (2) recipients will receive $7,000 each and the award will be credited to the recipients 25-26 tuition invoice. If the recipient is a sophomore, the award will be renewed for their junior and senior year. If the recipient is a junior, the award will be renewed for their senior year, so long as the the student continues with the baseball program and maintains good academic standings.
Eligibility
- A rising 10th, 11th or 12th grade boy involved in the SJCA baseball program.
- Demonstrate strong Christian-centered values and a desire to pursue a Catholic education.
- Show leadership and strong character in and out of school and as a member of the SJCA baseball program.
- Maintain good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Scholarship Requirements
- Be registered at St. Joseph Catholic Academy for the 26-27 school year.
- Write and attach an essay with no more than 100 words (see essay prompt below)
- Complete a SJCA Financial Aide form in a timely manner, as required by the Admissions Office. (Financial need will be taken into account by the scholarship committee.)
- Provide a copy of your most recent report card.
- Provide contact information for two references.
Selection Process
The Scholarship Award Selection Committee will review applications. Scholarship money will be sent directly to St. Joseph Catholic Academy to be applied to the recipient’s tuition.
All relevant documents must submitted together by March 15, 2026 with the scholarship application to be considered complete.
*Scholarships that are awarded may only be used towards billable tuition. Scholarships may not be used for fees or other charges which include but are not limited to hot lunch, athletics or clubs fees and books. Students who receive a scholarship and are later awarded a Wisconsin Parental Choice seat will forfeit their scholarship. Scholarships are prorated during the the duration of the school year.*
*All scholarship recipients are required to submit an impact statement that reflects on their experiences and the benefits of the scholarship. This statement must be submitted no later than May 1, 2026, as part of the scholarship agreement.*
