Direct Airport ReleaseKaua'i North Shore Animal Clinic
Lihue Airport ONLY
Service Animals: Direct Release fees at our clinic apply to all pets, including service animals. Owners seeking reduced State fees for validated service animals may instead choose to arrive through Honolulu (HNL), where the service animal is inspected at the airport Animal Quarantine Facility and, once cleared, may travel freely within the state without needing a Direct Release appointment on Kaua‘i. If you choose to arrive via HNL for the State’s validated service-animal inspection process, there is no need to complete this Direct Release request form. Click here for more information on service animals entering Hawai‘i.
If requesting a Direct Airport Release with less than 30 days’ notice:

We’re happy to help—but AQS controls all permit approvals.

Please Read: Important Information About Veterinary Care on Kaua‘i
Kaua‘i has no 24/7 veterinary hospitals, and island-wide emergency care is very limited. Emergency services are not guaranteed, even for established clients.
Kaua‘i North Shore Animal Clinic is not a 24-hour facility, but we are open Thursday–Sunday, including Sundays when all other clinics are closed, to help support weekend care needs.
For true emergencies, the nearest 24/7 hospital is VERC on Oʻahu.
If your pet has a daytime emergency on a day we are closed (Mon–Wed), please contact another open clinic. If no in-person care is available, VetTriage is a 24/7 video telehealth service that can help assess your pet and guide next steps. Please note that in-person emergency care is not guaranteed, even after consultation.
If you are traveling to or relocating to Kaua‘i with pets, please plan ahead. • Ensure your pet is up to date on leptospirosis vaccination. • Kaua‘i has fleas, ticks, and year-round heartworm disease—please ensure your pet is protected. • Once on island, we encourage you to establish veterinary care promptly, as appointment availability can be limited.
