  • MDOCS Equipment Check-out Policy

    Equipment Lending Period

    1. Initial lending period: 3 business days.
    2. One renewal allowed in person or phone (518-580-5940) for a maximum of 6 consecutive days
    3. Students may request an extended lending period for project needs. Email Jesse O'Connell ( joconnel@skidmore.edu ) for prior approval  before  going to Media Services.
    4. Late equipment will be fined to the student for $5/day for  each item

    Check-out Procedure

    1. Media Services Window Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm ( CLOSED for lunch 12-1pm ). No night OR weekend checkouts.
    2. DOCLab Closet Hours: Mon-Thu + Sun 4-10pm
    3. All currently enrolled DS students in production classes and MDOCS student employees may check out MDOCS equipment stored at Media Services or in the DOCLab closet.
    4. Students not currently enrolled in DS production courses can write to Jesse O'Connell ( joconnel@skidmore.edu ) for approval at least 24-hrs in advance.
    5. RETURNS: Equipment should be returned to the location it was checked out from during open hours (see above). 

    Responsibility

    1. The student whose ID Card the equipment is checked out on is responsible for the care and proper usage of all equipment for the duration of the check-out period. All equipment must be returned in the same condition it was lent out.
    2. REPAIR/REPLACEMENT COSTS: In the case of damaged or lost equipment during the check-out period, the student whose ID Card was used at check-out will be billed for the full cost of the necessary repair or replacement by the Bursar.
    3. LATE FEES: For late returns, a $5/day late fee applies for each individual piece of equipment checked-out.

    Media Storage/Batteries

    1. Students are responsible for providing their own media storage (SD card, external hard drive, etc.). The only exceptions are the GoPros and Canon C200 cameras that come with specialty SD cards.
    2. MDOCS/Media Services are not responsible for any recordings lost once the equipment is checked back in.
    3. Students are responsible for supplying batteries for the equipment that requires it (Canon camera batteries are included).

     This form must be signed by all students BEFORE checking out any gear.
