BMC Participation Statement
"The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions."
Acknowledgment of Risk
Climbing is a physical and demanding sport, which has inherent hazards associated with it. New Age Climbing Ltd (and/or associated and/or subsidiary companies) takes all necessary precautions to try and ensure the safety of all participants. Accidents can happen without any contributory negligence from the company or its staff. New Age Climbing Ltd (and/or associated and/or subsidiary companies) can accept no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property or for personal injury not arising as a result of its own act or default. Each participant should familiarise themselves with the hazards and try to minimise them as much as possible by complying with the risk management guidelines of New Age Climbing Ltd (and/or associated and/or subsidiary companies'). It is understood that individuals participate at their own risk. Individuals will be asked to provide explicit consent that they or anyone under their care can participate in the activities. At any stage participants can ask to see our Risk Assessment, ask a coach about the risks of the activity or email nick@newageclimbing.com for more information.
Supervision Limitations of Under 18s
We can only take responsibility for the participant for the duration of the booked climbing session. You must ensure arrangements have been made to take responsibility for your child before and after the arranged climbing session. Participants can start to warm up before the session start time, if they are signed off to enter the specific facility unsupervised (this is managed by the facility in question).
Photo and Video Consent
Capturing of photos and videos is used in order to enhance athlete coaching by the ability to review movements and performance. Participants are welcome to request that they are not recorded if they are not comfortable with this technique. However, as this recording will be taking place during the session it is important that we have consent for all participants in case they are recorded accidently or in the shot of another athlete.
Consent for photos and videos for other purposes such as social media, online resources / presence, promotion is fully optional.

The level of competence is usually assessed by the entry limitations of the facility we are training in. - Helmets must be worn during all outdoor roped climbing activities on instructed or coached sessions.
- Participants must provide their own helmet if required.
Training Plans
Training plans contain advice only. They are produced primarily to be completed remotely and not under coach supervision therefore participants must exercise their own judgement.
Understanding advised training protocols and exercises, and being able to perform them safely within your own medical limitations is the responsibility of the participant. Each protocol and exercise as well as the overall training plan structure must be risk assessed by the participant and undertaken at their own risk.
We ask that training plans are not shared with anyone outside of New Age Climbing Ltd.
Team Training: Consultation v.s Coached Sessions.
Athletes attending team practice will be attending either:
1) Consultation
- Athletes must be able to enter the training facility and complete the relevant activities unsupervised (have their own membership or junior membership, signed off by the centre for the activities).
- These are times where a coach will be at a pre arranged wall to be available for face to face contact with athletes while they complete their training plan. The coach is available to assist the athlete wherever required.
- This offers athletes a greater degree of freedom to complete their training outside of the constraints of the coaching team and team practice times.
- Coaches are not responsible for supervising the athletes while they complete any activity that they would be able to perform in the facility without the coach's presence.
2) Instructed Sessions
- This is used when athletes are not able to enter the training facility and complete the relevant activities unsupervised.
- Coaches have a duty of care to supervise the athletes.

- We have detailed risk assessments for indoor coaching that can be provided upon request.
