Owner Surrender Request
In order to assist in rehoming your pet prior to coming into our shelter, and in an effort to prevent shelter overcrowding, disease mitigation, and euthanasia, time to network your pet prior to coming into the shelter is vital. Here is how we can still help: Network your pet in our system. We can proceed with admitting your pet(s) into our database for networking purposes only in hopes to gain placement prior to scheduling the appointment. During this time, we can forward any inquiries to you to arrange an interaction. After 2 months, if we have not heard any updates from you or an appointment scheduled by our staff or provided all necesary details to properly network your pet, the pet will be outcomed in our system and will not longer be on the website. You can rehome your pet through www.adoptapet.com. MCAS is not affiliated with adoptapet.com. These resources are available to everyone.

To request assistance/an appointment to surrender your pet(s) to MCAS, please complete the form in its entirety. Please gather good, clear pictures of all pets prior to completing this form as this form does not save unless completed in full. If you have any issues regarding the completion of this form, please email shelter.counter@mctx.org. Please review the questions below and click "Next" to proceed.
Owner surrender requests are $35 (per pet) due at the time of the surrender appointment. Rehoming, surrendering to a rescue group, etc. can save you this fee!
It is my responsibility to keep in contact with shelter.counter@mctx.org regarding my pet(s). Due to the uncertainty of the timeline, there may be 2-3+ months wait for the next available appointment.
Surrendering pets to MCAS is only available to citizens who reside inside Montgomery County (excluding Cities of Conroe, Willis, Houston, Cleveland).
MCAS cannot guarantee any particular outcome for the animal. Upon surrender, ownership is immediately transferred to MCAS and your pet could be euthanized.

I understand that owner surrenders are by appointment only and a $35 fee will apply.
By submitting this request, I am certifying that I am the legal owner of the pet(s) I am surrendering.
I understand that I will be relinquishing all ownership rights to the described pet(s) to MCAS. The pet(s) described could be: placed for adoption, foster, or transferred to another shelter/animal welfare group.
I understand that once I have a scheduled appointment and I relinquish all ownership rights to the above pet(s) to the MCAS the pet(s) could be humanely euthanized.
