8. The temperament test is a guarantee of your puppy’s traits we test for?
A. False, it is our best guess of your puppy for the future and snapshot of where your puppy is at right now. Puppies are influenced and shaped by their environment and experiences just like humans are.

9. I need to keep my puppy safe from Parvo until all booster shots are complete around 16 weeks old by:

E. B, C, and D.
11. When potty training I take my puppy out to go potty when:
A. Any time she changes activities, so first waking up, after playing, after eating, etc.

D. If she is having accidents in her crate I need to take her out more frequently to give her the chance to go and give her more time to do her business up to 10 mins max.
E. All the above.
12. “The Rule of 3 with Potty Training” (that if I stay consistent at will get my puppy potty trained the quickest) is:
A. She is with me and I am watching her close for any signs she needs to go, or outside, or in her crate.
B. Set a timer for every 30 minutes and take her out, set an alarm during the night every 2-3 hours to take her out, take her out before she eats.
13. When the puppy wakes up to go potty in the night:

14. WHEN, not IF, your puppy has an accident I should:
A. Rub her nose in it and make a huge deal about it so she remembers.
B. Spank her so she will fear doing it again.
C. Say “Uh Oh” and scoop her up and take her outside and say “potty” (she probably will not finish out there) and then clean it up no big deal she will learn with time and consistency.
15. If I was not watching close and she has an accident, or I find an accident I missed earlier:
A. That's a Boo Boo on me and I clean it up and don't even mention it to her because it is after the fact and she would not understand it anyways.
B. Take her over there and rub her nose in it and lecture her in a loud voice, trust me you will want to do this sometimes when you are frustrated, but it will harm your precious relationship you have been working so hard to build with her.
16. When I initially put my puppy in her crate and she starts crying and throwing a tantrum I should:
A.Pull her out and give her loves and reassure her.
B. Stay strong with some tough love, she is pushing her boundaries, it is best to put her in her crate after wearing her out mentally with a short 3-5 minute training session or play session and then a quick cuddle.
C. It can take a day to a week or so to crate train a puppy, don't panic. You are the boss. She will learn that you are more stubborn and she won’t get what she wants by throwing her tantrums.
D. Make sure she doesn't need to go potty by taking her out quick and then putting her right back in her crate.
B, C, and D.
17. When my puppy wakes up say around 5-7 or so and I want to keep sleeping:
A. I should take her out to let her go potty and put her right back in the crate without making a big deal out of anything just like I do through the night if she wakes up. She will probably complain and cry the first several days you do this but stay consistent and she will learn quick what the expectation is. That way you can have your sleep in days until 9 or so even with a puppy or dog.
B. I should let her out, she is a puppy and needs to go potty and run some energy out pronto.
18. Dogs need to be able to go in their crate at anytime, but the BEST time to work on crate training is:
A. During the day after playing and getting tired.
B. At night is the only time I need to put my puppy in the crate.
19. I always need to have my puppy sleep in a crate?
A. True, it is safest and best always.
B. False, it just speeds up the process of potty training through the night. But some puppies potty train great through the night even sleeping with you, they will just lick your face and whine to be let outside to go potty.
20. When my puppy keeps puppy biting me, what can I do to stop that behavior?
A. Say “OW” loudly and immediately stop the playing and walk away and be boring.
B. Say “No” and offer a toy instead.
C. Try for a day doing the “butterfinger trick” where every hour or so you rub a pea sized amount of butter on your fingers and let your puppy lick it off while you say “gentle”, this will teach your puppy that when you say “gentle” you want them to lick instead of bite.
D. Spank her nose and say “NO” loudly.
E. Grab her jaw tightly and squeeze and say “NO BITING” loudly.
F. A through C.
21. My puppy keeps jumping on me. What should I do?
A. Fold your arms and take a step towards her and wait until she is sitting looking up at you to then pet her. You can say “sit” as well if you want but you shouldn't have to. If she tries to jump up again then repeat until she learns she cant do that for attention.
B. Knee her and force her into a sit.
C. Turn and walk away.
22. If my dog just doesn't seem to like my new puppy I can:
A. Try giving your dog lots of love and attention or even treats anytime your puppy is near your existing dog so that he will associate your new puppy with good feelings.
B. Try introducing your dog to your puppy when your puppy is worn out or sleeping and let your dog approach at his own pace.
C. Give it more time because 95% of the time they will both learn to at least coexist if not stinkin LOVE each other. Dogs typically do not love puppies at first. They are just too mouthy and have too much energy. It will take time for your dog to teach your puppy some ground rules (nicely though).
D. All the above, plus you can reach out to a trainer if needed for help.
23. How often do I need to do maintenance grooming? Trimming around eyes, potty area, and nails.
A. Every week.

D. All the above.
26. How often should I brush my puppy’s teeth because she HATES it?!
A. Once a month.
B. Never, just use good chew toys and dog teeth stuff you can get and put in water.
C. Everyday, dang it! But reward with a treat after to make it more positive.
D. Never, it's just too hard to train her young so I would rather let her get the most horrid imaginable smelling breath, have her teeth wiggly rotting from her mouth and her in pain to the point she acts fearful and aggressive, and pay a super expensive vet bill to get her rotted teeth removed when she is around 7-9 years old. (true story guys from a rescue dog we once got and immediately took her to the vet when we got her only to discover her teeth were literally falling out).
27. The best time to spay my female puppy is:
A. When my vet recommends, but for sure after her first heat.
B. ASAP.
28. The best time to neuter my male puppy is:
A. ASAP.
B. When my vet recommends but not before at LEAST 6 months old so that he can have his hormones to help with healthy growth.
29. I need to socialize my puppy but I can’t put her paws down outside of safe places like my house or a safe friends or family's home until after all her shots are done. How do I safely socialize her then?
A. Take her in a front-facing backpack or sling everywhere you can and expose her to as many new sites and sounds as possible, but do not let people pet her unfortunately until shots are complete.
B. Invite safe vaccinated dogs (that havent been to highly populated dog areas in the last 2 weeks) of all sizes over to play while you monitor them playing, this is fabulous.
C. Take her on car rides.
D. Take her to see lots of animals safely in a sling or backpack.
E. All of the above! Socializing the first 16 weeks of a puppy’s life is HUGE! The difference between a scared and aggressive dog or a confident dog in the future!!!!!
