The Vancouver Girls Basketball Association aims to "support student athletes on and off the court".
The VGBA Langara Challenge is one of the opportunities that we have to do that. As part of the Challenge, the VGBA and our incredible partners aim to provide financial support through scholarships for eligible selected candidates.
In partnership with the Vancouver Police Foundation, a minimum of six VGBA scholarships will be awarded at the tournament, and in partnership with Langara College and the Langara Women’s Basketball team, two major Langara College scholarships will be awarded at the VGBA Langara Challenge.
The emphasis for the criteria of these awards will be placed on students-athletes who have competed at an elite level of basketball, while displaying excellence in both sportsmanship and citizenship. Applicants should also show a commitment to their school and/or community through involvement in coaching, officiating, leadership and volunteer activities. Applicants should be candid about barriers to success. Specific criteria to be eligible for selection for each award is listed below next to each category.
