  • Thank you for your interest in applying to be a Director for the Greater Tampa REALTORS®. Please review the criteria for the Board of Directors below, complete and submit the form to express your interest in serving as a member of the GTR Board of Directors. Incomplete, printed and/or handwritten applications will not be considered. 

    Requirements to Serve: Any REALTOR® member in good standing may seek election as a member of the Board of Directors. “Good standing” shall mean a member who has:

    1. Paid all dues, fees, fines and assessments to the association;
    2. No FREC or Code of Ethics violations on their record within the preceding five (5) years; and
    3. Complied with the Code of Ethics requirements.

    Function of Directors: The business and affairs of Greater Tampa REALTORS® are managed by, or under the authority of, the Board of Directors and as such, the Board of Directors is authorized to do all lawful acts that are not otherwise required to be done by its members (i.e. vote to merge or consolidate).

    Term: Directors are elected for a staggered term of two (2) years. In no event shall a Board member serve more than four (4) consecutive years as an elected Director.

    Time Commitment: Travel to and from meetings plus the typical meeting duration of 75-minutes (or more as needed). Virtual attendance options may be available.

    Meetings: Regularly scheduled Board meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month.

    Attendance: Members who miss three regularly scheduled meetings in a year will be removed from the Board of Directors. After missing the second Board meeting, a member must be notified to make them aware that the next missed committee meeting will be their third absence and that they will be removed.
    Death in the family, sick or hospitalization, or on GTR, FR or NAR business are the only excuses for missing a Board meeting.

    Application for Service: Any GTR REALTOR® Member in good standing may apply to serve as a GTR Director. Director solicitation begins on June 1 and ends on July 15. GTR Director elections are held in September.

    • Duties of Directors
      The Board of Directors is the governing body of Greater Tampa REALTORS®.
      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      • Have general supervision over Association policies, activities, and business affairs, subject to the Corporate Charter, the Bylaws, and the Policy Manual.
      • Attend all regularly scheduled & special meetings of the Board of Directors.
      • Serve as a liaison between members and the Board of Directors to ensure that the members are aware of Board actions, and the Board is aware of member concerns and interests.
      • Maintain a working knowledge of the Association’s Charter, Bylaws, MLS Rules and Regulations, the Code of Ethics, and the Policy Manual and approve revisions and recommendations as necessary.
      • Attend the Annual Leadership Training, General Membership and District Six meetings.
      • Serve as a director, in accordance with Section 617.0830, Florida Statutes, which sets out the general standards to use good faith, care and to always work in the best interest of GTR without a conflict of interest.
      • Approve the annual budget and approve budget variances as needed.
      • Evaluate and assess, no later than December 1st of each calendar year, the performance of the CEO.

      Additional Requirements

      • Affirmation of Confidentiality, Anti-Trust and Conflict of Interest Policy by signing agreement annually.
      • Annual signature on appropriate Job Description affirming acceptance of duties and obligations of serving as a GTR Director.
      • Must maintain good standing with the Association throughout service. Any Officer or Director found guilty of violating the Code of Ethics, having exhausted all appeals will be deemed an automatic resignation from the Board of Directors. Said resignation is subject to the review and discretion of the Board of Directors, who may vote not to accept the resignation.

      Florida REALTORS® Mid-Winter Meetings, Orlando, FL

      • Typically held at the Renaissance Hotel at SeaWorld Orlando
      • 3-4 Nights in Mid-January
      • Virtual attendance options may be available
      • Reimbursement of expenses consistent with the GTR Reimbursement Policy

      District 6 Meet the Leadership Meeting, Tampa Bay, FL

      • Typically held in June for 1/2 day or one full day
      •  Virtual attendance options may be available

      Florida REALTORS® Annual Convention, Orlando, FL

      • Typically held at the Rosen Shingle Creek
      • 3-4 Nights in Mid-August
      • Virtual attendance options may be available
      • Reimbursement of expenses consistent with the GTR Reimbursement Policy
