Student Rights and Responsibilities:
Otero College is committed to complying with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Otero College prohibits any form of discrimination on the basis of race, gender, disability, economic background, national or ethnic origin, or sexual orientation.
Students with disabilities are protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. These laws provide student attending college or university with the following rights.
Equal access to courses, programs, services, and activities offered through the college. The right of having information about the student's disability confidential. The use of appropriate and reasonable accommodations. The right to request a copy of the Accessibility Services policies and procedures, as well as the student's accommodations, at any time.
It is the student's responsibility to self-identify as an individual with a disability to Accessibility Services if requesting accommodations and to obtain information as needed. The student understands that in order to utilize their approved accommodations they are required to discuss the implementation of the approved accommodations with their instructor.
