The total word count for a standard ad includes all of the following sections: 1) title, 2) subtitle, 3) author/illustrator, 4) ad copy, and 5) publisher or imprint. The total word count for all of these sections put together is 40 words. Apply the word count limit in whatever method you prefer across these copy blocks and submit accordingly.
TIPS:
- Be mindful and do not to repeat any elements because doing so is an inefficient use of your ad space; ie, don’t repeat the title in the ad copy because it’s already listed in the ad
- Include the subtitle in the title field below only if you want to include it as part of your total word count
- Choose to present publisher or imprint as part of your total word count strategy
