  • Have you ever thought about your learning style? Some students learn best with lectures, other students like to work in groups with hands-on material, and others like to work independently. Every student is unique, and most students will find that they employ a variety of learning tactics throughout their school years depending on the course and context. And while there are many different ways to learn, some research points to four main learning styles: Verbal, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Visual. Take the following quiz to find out your primary learning style and how to use it to your advantage in Zinkerz classes and beyond!

  • Verbal learners are especially adept at processing information through words. They probably enjoy reading books, articles, or academic journals and don't mind taking the time to look up words in the dictionary or online. Verbal learners may also benefit from writing exercises like journaling or creating a blog. Zinkerz classes are the perfect place to practice your note-taking skills, and this will be particularly beneficial for verbal learners.

  • Auditory learners prefer to absorb information through listening. If you find yourself reading to yourself aloud, or incorporating music, podcasts or other audio media into your study time, this is probably you! Auditory learners may ask for information to be repeated aloud in class, and this strategy can also be used when preparing for a test or quiz - speaking the information aloud either independently or with a study group can be a great memorization tactic.

  • Kinesthetic learners operate best in academic environments when they have hands-on and experiential opportunities where they can actively participate in their learning. Learners of this variety are encouraged to engage in something physical during study breaks (like some dancing or stretching). You can even incorporate physical motions or gestures into your studying and memorization tactics!

  • Visual learners enjoy seeing information presented visually through pictures, diagrams, or charts. Students may also find it helpful to doodle or use whiteboards or graphic organizers to brainstorm or understand concepts. Color coding is a helpful tool for visual learners as it creates clear visual categories. In classes, visual learners may want to advocate for visual aids or powerpoint slides to accompany an instructor's lesson.
