Fit To Be Tied, Lesson 4, Exercise for Before and During Breeding
Go through She's in Season module in A2Z.
Go through the Timing Your Breeding classes (Dogs Heat Cycle Simplified, Using LH and Progesterone & Vaginal Cytology).
Confirm you can fit the breeding into your schedule.
Contact stud dog owner to confirm breeding timing and methods.
Make an appointment with your vet for baseline progesterone and brucellosis test in 2-3 days.
Increase her food to 30% more than normal.
Discontinue joint supplements, if you haven't already.
Start your Breeding Diary to track your breeding.
Print and use the She's in Season checklist.
Put her on a reproductive diet with folic acid, wild fish oil, and at least 20% of calories from carbohydrates.
Give her pregnancy-safe heartworm, flea and tick treatments, if she is due in the next 2 weeks.
Keep her stress low throughout her heat.
Keep her fit using Fit to Be Tied exercises.
Start vaginal cytology today.
Run a brucellosis test and a baseline progesterone to confirm where she is in her cycle. Save serum for LH testing, if planning to use it. (Days 3 -4)
Do daily vaginal cytology until she is 100% cornified. (Days 4 - 12)
Run your next progesterone test when she is 80% cornified.
