To qualify as a 2023 National Jamboree Leader, applicants are required to:
• Serve as a Scout leader (Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, or equivalent youth leader with direct youth contact) for at least one year during the six‐year period 2017 to 2023.
• Complete or re‐certify in Basic Scoutmaster training, Boy Scout Fast Start, Outdoor Leadership Skills and Scoutmaster Fundamentals (No. 34549) within the 36‐months before the Jamboree.
• Complete Youth Protection Training within the 12‐months before the Jamboree.
• Complete Wood Badge training and have received your beads or be signed up for the next course.
• Complete Jamboree Scoutmaster Training for the GNYC Council National Jamboree Committee.
• Commit to recruit and retain a full 36‐member troop for the Jamboree.
• Encourage prospective junior leaders to attend National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) on July 10 – 16, 2022 at Alpine Scout Camp.
• Work with the troop committee comprised of parents of the youth in the troop.
• Commit to attend the entire Jamboree and pre‐Jamboree tour. Note that applications will not be accepted for leaders who cannot commit to the entire Jamboree and pre‐Jamboree tour.
• Commit to hold Jamboree troop meetings on a monthly basis with at least one overnight campout during the 12‐month period before the Jamboree.
• If you have not been to a Jamboree before, commit to “apprentice” with an “experienced” Jamboree Scout leader for six months.
• Act as the adult advisor for one patrol in the Jamboree troop.
• Be able to serve as a role model of physical fitness.
• File a Personal Health and Medical Record, class 3 (No. NSJ‐34412‐01) form with the council.
• File “Intent to Serve as a Jamboree Adult Leader” application at the Greater New York Office.
Complete an interview with the Greater New York Councils National Jamboree Committee:
• Be approved and formally invited to serve by the Greater New York Councils National Jamboree Committee.
• Be approved by the Greater New York Council Scout Executive.
