Please use this form to record your impressions of applicants to the Center for Creative Photography Fellowship Program. Scores will be calculated at the end of the review period based on the selections made in this form. These scores are not determinative, but will be used to support selection committee's decision-making process for awarding fellowships.
In your consideration of the applicants, please keep in mind these key features of the program:
- Through these fellowships, we hope to support research which makes primary and substantive use of CCP collection materials.
- While we continue to welcome projects that utilize our collections in traditional ways, we also wish to expand notions of the kinds of research that can be supported by CCP collections: creative, digital, performance, and more.
- Fellowships may support academics, artists, or others interested in photographic resources, regardless of their experience or educational levels.
- Fellowships should help make work possible for interested parties with limited means of support for independent research.
Please also be aware that while rubrics and other evaluation tools have been shown to help mitigate the impacts of implicit bias and support fairer assessment processes, it is also important to engage with yourself in a reflective process while completing review work. Strive to create conditions that are equivalent across your applicant review process. Give yourself breaks, and come fresh and open to learning and exploring applicant's offerings in these proposals.
Assess yourself too for any pre-existing notions about people, topics, appropriateness, etc. You may find implicit bias tools like those by Project Implicit to be helpful in identifying areas where you may be inclined to bring assumptions or preferences to bear on the evaluation process. Learning from Justice also offers helpful definitions and guidance in approaching implicit bias.
