  • Workshop Descriptions

    Full-Day Session:

    • Child Passenger Safety on School Buses National Training
      • Maximum 30 registrants
      • CPS Technicians and Instructors can play an important role in preparing school support staff for securing and transporting children properly in buses. This national training serves as enrichment learning for CPS Technicians and as a hands-on introduction for school staff of CPS best practices and safety restraint options for children riding in school buses. The soon-to-be released 2022 curriculum revision will be offered. 
    • Masterclass: Powerful Messaging with Digital Storytelling
      • This full-day session will provide participants with an understanding of the digitalstorytelling elements necessary to craft a powerful message. Participants will have specialized guidance in story development and behind-the-scenes production skill development through classroom discussion and hands-on proctice with production materials. This session is for child passenger safety advocates working with digital technology to advance their agency identity, intervention clarity or comunnity reach.

    Morning Sessions:

    • Delivering CPS in Healthcare Part 1: PIVOT - Strategies for Creating a Thriving Patient CPS Program
      •   The pandemic has taught us to pivot, especially in how we provide caregiver education and assistance with car seat education and distribution. Come prepared for an open discussion on hospital and clinical-based patient CPS programs, with topics to include day-to-day operations, staffing models, finding champions, building support and innovative education and distribution programs.
    • Culturally Responsive Approaches for Developing a Successful Community CPS Program
      • How do we successfully engage ALL communities in our CPS efforts? During this session we’ll discuss how to identify underserved populations, find community partners and champions, and build trust when working with diverse and underrepresented populations.
    • Cultivating Your Educator Skills
      • Technician or Instructor - we are all educators. Successful interactions as educators require both strong technical and communication skills. Join us for a pilot of modules from the soon-to-be-released Child Passenger Safety Educator Development National Training to practice your communication skills focusing on creating positive learning environments for all types of audiences.   

    Afternoon Sessions:

    • Manufacturers Alliance for Child Passenger Safety
      • This is your opportunity to join colleagues from several child restraint and vehicle manufacturers to examine and discuss trending topics and advancements.
    • Delivering CPS in Healthcare Part 2: Strategies for Serving Families of Children with Special Needs
      • We’ll devote our discussion and networking time to meeting the transportation needs of children with special needs. Topics will include seating clinic and fit station models, loaner programs, conducting CPS assessments, steps to obtaining a patient a specialized restraint, funding sources and network building.
    • CPS in the Line of Duty
      • Whether you work in fire, law enforcement or EMS, if you have members of your CPS team that do, or if you want to learn how to recruit first responders to CPS, this session is where you want to be.
