ERCNSW April Camps App. Form

Edmund Rice Camps New South Wales provide opportunities for children, young people and families to build resilience, enabling them to thrive, belong, and contribute to their communities. We have a vision for a world where all children, despite their circumstances, can have access to fun recreational opportunities which also provide the social connections and personal development to support and empower them.

This brief application form is for volunteers who would like to attend one of our 2021 Winter Camps. You will need to have volunteered on (at least one) ERCNSW week-long program before, or have completed (or be about to complete) our Foundational New Leader and Safeguarding Training. 

Camp Information

We're lucky to be back with two camps this Autumn school holidays! We'll be increasing our numbers slightly, but we may not be able to place everyone who expresses interest. However, a robust reserve list will again be essential to the success of each program, with COVID-19 still present in NSW.

O'day
After a successful grant bid, ERCNSW has been able to secure the first day of each program as a traditional 'o'day' before children arrive the next.

Your Application
Please be aware that this is an expression of interest form. We will need to make some tough decisions to create the safest programs possible, and take factors such as postcode/LGA into consideration in order to minimise, as much as possible, the potential spread of a virus from one (geographic) community to another.

For these reasons, it'll be so helpful if you could note your availability for either/both camps, as well as note the roles you would be comfortable with. More information will help us to organise better and maximise placements – however, we cannot guarantee any until we begin the process.

We will endeavour to inform you of placement as soon as possible, with staff to contact you by the third week of March to advise whether we have a place for you on board. As always, volunteers are required to be present for the entirety of the camp they confirm attendance for.

Of course, it's our strong intention for camps to occur on these dates in 2022 – but as we've all learned, this may change due to COVID-19.

There will be a number of measures in place to ensure this program is as safe as possible and able to operate after the recent Omicron outbreak in NSW. Some of these measures include individual rooms for all (family members may share), as well as masks, social distancing, and regular sanitising.

Another key part of our COVID-safe plan is the vaccination of all staff, volunteers and participants. Our governing body/ERCS' policy mandates that staff and volunteers have their booster shot of an approved COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they are eligible. If you won’t be eligible for your third dose in time for this program or if you are unable to book in time, please let us know as soon as possible. 

With this is mind, please support us to create a safe environment by answering the below questions as accurately as possible.

Reserve lists will be crucial for this program to be successful, given the difficulties of managing populations during COVID-19. A robust reserve list will give us a number of options for the program, including the ability to bring in support volunteers if required.

Roles relating to critical incident management will be required for this program. The nature of these would be to help marshal and organise volunteers and kids towards fire exits, take a head count, and generally assist staff in ensuring the safety of the group, as well as their safe evacuation if need be.
