    Eligibility‌ ‌

    ‌

    The‌ ‌pitch‌ ‌competition‌ ‌is‌ ‌open‌ ‌to‌ ‌NI‌ ‌and‌ ‌ROI‌ ‌digital‌ ‌/‌ ‌tech‌ ‌/‌ ‌product‌ ‌based‌-‌startup‌s‌‌ ‌who are 28 months old or less‌ and‌ ‌which‌ ‌ha‌ve‌‌ ‌raised‌ ‌£100k‌ ‌or‌ ‌less‌ ‌in‌ ‌grants,‌ ‌funds‌ ‌or‌ ‌investments.‌ ‌

    Persons‌ ‌who‌ ‌are‌ ‌not‌ ‌currently‌ ‌resident‌ ‌in‌ ‌ROI‌ ‌or‌ ‌NI‌ ‌may‌ ‌enter‌ ‌the‌ ‌Competition‌ ‌as‌ ‌long‌ ‌as‌ ‌the‌ ‌primary‌ ‌business‌ ‌activity‌ ‌is‌ ‌registered,‌ ‌established‌ ‌and‌ ‌based‌ ‌within‌ ‌NI‌ ‌or‌ ‌ROI.‌ ‌

    ‌

    The‌ ‌organiser‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌competition,‌ ‌TheEmployable‌ ‌Ltd‌ ‌t/a‌ ‌Startacus,‌ ‌(“Organiser”)‌ ‌reserves‌ ‌the‌ ‌right‌ ‌to‌ ‌withhold‌ ‌prizes‌ ‌until‌ ‌this‌ ‌condition‌ ‌is‌ ‌met.‌ ‌

    ‌

    Shortlisted‌ ‌startups‌ ‌who‌ ‌apply‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌competition‌ ‌must‌ ‌be‌ ‌available‌ ‌to‌ ‌pitch‌ ‌to‌ ‌a‌ ‌group‌ ‌of‌ ‌judges‌ on 7th March 2022 during the BIG IDEAS event  at The Playhouse, Derry~Londonderry. 

    ‌

    Startup‌ ‌founders‌ ‌/‌ ‌or‌ ‌a‌ ‌senior‌ ‌representative‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌‌startup‌ ‌‌team‌ ‌must‌ also‌ ‌be‌ ‌available‌ ‌to‌ attend the BIG IDEAS evening social at 5.30pm on 7th March when the pitch competition winner will be announced.

    Pitch‌ ‌applications‌ ‌close‌ ‌at‌ noon on 28th February 2022 ‌and‌‌ ‌startups‌ ‌may‌ ‌also‌ ‌be‌ ‌shortlisted‌ ‌by‌ ‌Startacus‌ ‌before‌ ‌this‌ ‌final‌ ‌date‌.‌ ‌Shortlisting‌ ‌decisions‌ ‌are‌ ‌final‌ ‌and‌ ‌any‌ ‌startups‌ ‌who‌ ‌miss‌ ‌the‌ ‌application‌ ‌closing‌ ‌date‌ ‌will‌ ‌only‌ ‌be‌ ‌invited‌ ‌to‌ ‌pitch‌ ‌if‌ ‌pitching‌ ‌slots‌ ‌become‌ ‌available.‌ ‌

    ‌

    ‘The‌ ‌BIG IDEAS 2022 ‌‌P‌itch‌ ‌‌co‌mpetition‌ ‌is‌ ‌administered‌ ‌by‌ ‌the‌ ‌organiser,‌ ‌The‌ ‌Employable‌ ‌Ltd,‌ ‌t/a‌ ‌Startacus.‌ ‌Employees‌ ‌of‌ ‌The‌ ‌Employable‌ ‌Ltd,‌ ‌t/a‌ ‌Startacus‌ ‌or‌ ‌anyone‌ ‌else‌ ‌directly‌ ‌connected‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌competition‌ ‌may‌ ‌not‌ ‌enter‌ ‌the‌ ‌competition.‌ ‌ ‌


    We‌ ‌will‌ ‌only‌ ‌use‌ ‌the‌ ‌data‌ ‌you‌ ‌submit‌ ‌in‌ ‌relation‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌pitch‌ ‌competition‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ BIG IDEAS ‌event‌ ‌(including‌ ‌announcing‌ ‌the‌ ‌winner)‌ ‌and‌ ‌will‌ ‌not‌ ‌use‌ ‌it‌ ‌for‌ ‌any‌ ‌other‌ ‌purpose‌ ‌unless‌ ‌prior‌ ‌consent‌ ‌has‌ ‌been‌ ‌given.‌ ‌By‌ ‌submitting‌ ‌an‌ ‌entry,‌ ‌you‌ ‌agree‌ ‌that‌ ‌we‌ ‌may‌ ‌use‌ ‌the‌ ‌data‌ ‌you‌ ‌submit‌ ‌in‌ ‌accordance‌ ‌with‌ ‌our‌ ‌privacy‌ ‌policy.‌ ‌


    The‌ ‌winning‌ ‌startup‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌awarded‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌£4000 ‌cash‌ ‌prize.‌ ‌The‌ ‌startup‌ ‌must‌ ‌have‌ ‌a‌ ‌bank‌ ‌account‌ ‌for‌ ‌this‌ ‌prize‌ ‌fund‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌administered‌‌ ‌to‌.‌ ‌The‌ ‌payment‌ ‌will‌ ‌take‌ ‌up‌ ‌to‌ ‌two‌ ‌weeks‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌administered‌ ‌and‌ ‌an‌ ‌invoice‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌winning‌ ‌selected‌ ‌startup‌ ‌to‌ ‌TheEmployable‌ ‌Ltd‌ ‌(Startacus)‌ ‌is‌ ‌expected.‌ ‌ ‌

    These‌ ‌Terms‌ ‌and‌ ‌Conditions‌ ‌can‌ ‌be‌ ‌reviewed‌ ‌and‌ ‌updated.‌ ‌ ‌

    We‌ ‌are‌ ‌happy‌ ‌to‌ ‌review‌ ‌a‌ ‌startup's‌ ‌eligibility‌ ‌on‌ ‌a‌ ‌case‌ ‌by‌ ‌case‌ ‌basis.‌ ‌E.G.‌ ‌If‌ ‌a‌ ‌company‌ ‌registered‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌business‌ ‌more than 28 months ago ‌but‌ ‌did‌ ‌not‌ ‌start‌ ‌working‌ ‌on‌ ‌that‌ ‌business‌ ‌until‌, two years ago some‌ ‌flexibility‌ ‌may‌ ‌be‌ ‌applied‌ ‌if‌ ‌a‌ ‌business‌ ‌case‌ ‌can‌ ‌be‌ ‌provided and /or you can clearly show this is a new innovation /spinout within a company.

     

    We reserve the right to short-list up to 12 startups to make sure that there are at least 10 startups pitching on the day.
