  • Animal Adoption Application

  • Before you start, this is a lengthy form. We want to minimize the "back and forth" dialogue and be mindful of your time - to do so, we have developed this application that covers likely everything we need to know. You will be able to save a draft of this form if you need more time to complete it, as well as be allowed to review it before submitting it.

  • EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 2023 - we are now allowing a trial run of using a waiting list for the following common species:

    • aquatic turtles*
    • ball pythons
    • bearded dragons
    • corn snakes
    • crested geckos
    • green iguanas*
    • kingsnakes
    • leopard geckos
    • Nile monitors*
    • red-tail boas
    • savannah monitors
    • small tortoise species (Russian tortoises, Hermanns tortoises, etc)
    • sulcata tortoises*
    • tegus

(note: * means that Badgerland Reptile Rescue does not generally accept this species, but if we are contacted about an animal, we will pass the information onto individuals that are on that species' waiting list)

Individuals may apply to be on more than one species waitlist but must submit a separate application for each species.

While we will factor length of time on the waitlist into our adoption decisions, each animal will still ultimately be placed into the best home for its particular needs.

Submitting an application for the waitlist does not guarantee adoption for that species.

  • Shipping Policy

  • Badgerland Reptile Rescue ships animals to adopted homes on a case-by-case basis. Our organization prefers to use Redline Shipping as a shipping company. The only shipping method that we will agree to is Priority Overnight and to a FedEx hub. This means that we will not ship to your personal home address and FedEx will hold the package for pickup - you will need to physically drive to the FedEx hub to pickup the animal. If you would like to find a FedEx hub (usually referred to as a FedEx shipping center), you can locate the nearest one here.

Please note that shipping is never guaranteed. We prioritize our animals' health and safety. If we feel that shipping conditions could be dangerous or extremely stressful for the animal, we will inform the potential adopter that unfortunately this animal is unable to be shipped.

Shipping costs are the full responsibility of the adopter and are non-negotiable. In addition to the shipping label payment, the adopter is also responsible for the cost of the packaging, insulation, 72 hour heat pack, deli cup and/or bag. If you would like to preview the likely expenses, you can do so at this link on the Redline Shipping website. Quotes for the shipping label can be obtained here (our zip code is 53143). The cost of any applicable permits is also the responsibility of the adopter.

*We are unable to provide any shipping quote or discuss shipping unless an out-of-state adopter has been approved for a particular animal. We appreciate your understanding.*
