COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our sport, member clubs and their members. To protect those participating in our sport and the community broadly, Gymnastics NSW highly recommends that all eligible people get vaccinated. Gymnastics NSW and Gymnastics Australia are supportive of the government’s position that vaccination is the best way forward in overcoming the COVID pandemic. We strongly encourage our staff and our broader community to educate themselves on the benefits and risks of vaccination and to make an informed decision, whilst appreciating that not everyone may choose to do so.
People nominating and seeking selection for State Team will need to abide by the rules set by Gymnastics Australia. The competition is being held in Queensland and NSW State Team members will need to abide by Queensland state government regulations for travel into Queensland and participation in the event. There may be specific venue requirements where the event is being held and it is possible that participants attending the event may be required to be fully vaccinated.
Gymnastics Australia have advised:
“For all Gymnastics Australia events, camps, national and international tours, meetings, courses and workshops, it is mandatory that staff, volunteers, participants and attendees are fully vaccinated in compliance with the relevant state and territory regulations and the specific requirements of the venues where such events, camps, national and international tours, meetings, courses and workshops are located.”
Gymnastics NSW request all people nominating for the State Team provide their vaccination status to assist with team organisation and communication should there be vaccination requirements in place for the event. Please note vaccination is not an eligibility requirement for nominating for selection for the State Team.
