2023 Open SCHOLARSHIP Application Form

American Academy of Bookbinding.
This is the application form for Open Scholarship awards for 2023 courses at the American Academy of Bookbinding.

Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to offer Open Scholarships for both merit and financial need. Each course we offer has some scholarship funds available! Amounts awarded vary from $400-600 for one-week classes and $600-1000 for two-week classes.

Scholarships are awarded to both new and returning students, so please apply regardless of your level of experience!

Open Scholarship Awards will be decided by a group made up of AAB instructors and AAB staff. The amount awarded is based on the quality of your application and the number of students applying for each course. The announcement of scholarship awards will be sent out within 2 weeks of your submission.

PLEASE NOTE: Scholarships are tied to class registration. You must register for the course/s you wish to take before your Scholarship Application form will be reviewed.

Personal Statement

Please submit a short personal statement concerning your interest in bookbinding. A brief history of your practice along with your bookbinding goals is required for both need and merit scholarship requests.

Please submit a statement of financial need.

We may request a copy of the first two pages of your previous year's income tax statement to verify need if scholarship funds are awarded.

AAB gives scholarship money based on the merits of your work. Please submit 4 images of your current work. Please provide the image title and a short description (2-3 sentences) of the work in the box below each image.
