About SALT Week
SALT week is a week long service retreat based on the Beatitudes given to us by Jesus during his sermon on the mount. Each day will consist of Mass, a service project on location in the greater capital region, a fun activity at St. Pius X, and a time for prayer. Retreat attendee will expereince what it means to live out these beautitudes with projects that will give them the ability to be the hands and feet of Christ.
Who can attend SALT Week?
SALT Week is open to any teen entering grade eight in the fall of 2022 thru a gradued senior in the spring of 2022.
Serve for a Week vs. Serve for a Day
SALT week is designed for teens to serve for the entire week. Each day builds on the previous one and each day's service project is designed to give the teens different experiences each day. We encourage your teen to participate in the entire week!
However, we recognize that some people have very busy schedules and may not be able to to serve for the entire week. There is an option to select certain days to attend SALT Week rather than the whole week.
The cost breakdown is noted below.
Cost
The cost of the service week is $75 for the entire week or $15 per day. This will cover supplies, food, and a t-shirt that all retreat attendees who work for at least four of the five days will receive.
Payment in the form of cash, card or check, made paybale to "St. Pius X Church", is due no later than July 1, 2022. Payment can be dropped off at the parish office at any time during normal business hours.
Lunch
Retreat attendees will need to provide their own lunch Monday-Thursday. Lunch will be provided for retreat attendees on Friday. While water and snacks will be available will working at different sites each day, retreat attendees are still highly encoouraged to bring their own snacks and water bottles.
Registration for SALT Week will close on Friday, June, 24th 2022. If you have any questions, comments or concerns about this retreat please contact the Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry, Josh Kay, at ym@stpiusxloudonville.org.
