Purpose:
To provide scholarships to talented students that:
- have a desire to utilize their musical gifts to assit the Chowan University Gospel Choir Mission and Vision.
- are active in supporting the community in which they live.
- show an eagerness to achieve through knowledge by becoming a student at Chowan University.
1. APPLICATION DEADLINES (no exceptions)
Fall scholarship application due Monday, August 15.
Spring scholarship applications is Monday, January 5.
2. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
3. If any question does not apply to you in this application please reply n/a.
4. You will be notified by E-mail regarding the status of your application.

Requirements:
1. Must be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
2. Earn and maintain a 2.0 GPA
3. Participate and remain active in Chowan University Gospel Choir
4. Remain in good standing with the Student Affairs and the University
5. Must successfully complete 24 credit hours in an academic year
6. All scholarship recipients must live on campus.
The Scholarship Awards are not to extend beyond the fourth year unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Please Note: This award is intended to help fund the cost of your education here at Chowan University. Receipt of additional financial aid awards or change in your status with the institution may result in an adjustment to your financial aid award package and/or this award.
*The committee strongly encourages you to consider reducing your student loan burden. If you wish to make adjustments to your student loans, please contact the Financial Aid Office.*
Application Process:
Applicant must submit the following items:
1. Completed application form (Incomplete applications will not be considered for scholarship awards.)
2. Two (2) letters of recommendation from individuals with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and involvement. At least one (1) needs to be from your present or past school or church choir director.
3. A personal essay that answer the following questions.
- How does gospel music influence your daily living?
- Describe your faith and how you go about sharing it with others.
- How does Mission and Ministry play a role in your life?
