  • Wild Summer Life (Ages 5-8 & Ages 9-12)

Summer breaks should be a kid’s time in life they get wild. It is also the best time of year for wildlife! During the week, campers will have the most animal-packed time outside of a zoo. Campers will learn about the wide variety of wildlife in Colorado, as well as other animals that are a part of our local community. As with every Catamount Institute summer camp, we’ll spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors. We’ll search for animals from all of the kingdoms, signs of wildlife, and learn about what these critters need to thrive as well. Though wildlife can be elusive, we will have guaranteed animal experiences with multiple visits from several groups who work with animals. This camp’s 9-12 year-old campers will also get a chance to see animals on field trips.. Or should we call them safaris?

  • Front Range Playground (Ages 5-8 & Ages 9-12)

It’s no exaggeration to say there are few places in the world that provide numerous natural spaces that can be used for recreation and exploration. Colorado’s Front Range has everything outdoor recreation enthusiasts could ask for, and most of these adventurous activities are accessible in Colorado Springs! During this week of camp, we’ll be providing campers as many ways to play in the great outdoors as possible, with enough variety for the thrill seekers and mellow fellows alike, and no prior experience expected. Of course, Catamount Institute’s signature mix of adventure and education will mean that each outside playtime will touch on how to recreate responsibly outdoors and the science hidden under the fun.

  • Rocky Mountain Highlights (Ages 5-8 & 9-12)

As an outdoor education institution, Catamount Institute is lucky to be where it is. To say it’d be a lot more difficult to provide kids with a vast array of outdoor educational adventures in other parts of the country would be an understatement. Our unique places, history, and people have some truly top-tier highlights, and we’ll stuff as many as we can into one week! For this week’s younger participants, we’ll utilize the historical remains and wildlands of Sondermann Park to show off why the Rocky Mountains are so special. Our 9-12 year-old campers will spend over half the camp week up in the Rockies, visiting different locales at higher elevations.

  • Colorado-ology (Ages 5-8 & Ages 9-12)

Colorado is truly a magical place. In the span of a day, you can have five different kinds of weather, and in the span of a couple of miles, see five different ecosystems. This week of camp will be focused on the many different kinds of ‘Colorado’ in our state and using scientific means to explore and investigate what goes into making Colorado, Colorado. Each day of camp will be centered on and at a different eCOsystem! This will be our week with the biggest STEM focus. How many more times can we say Colorado? Find out at our Colorado-ology camp!
