The field trips of the State University of NY, College at Oneonta Outdoor Program include canoeing, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, caving, rock climbing, whale watching, horseback riding, among other activities, often in remote areas. They also involve traveling on major highways and State or county road systems. These trips require participation in activities that are by their nature physically and mentally demanding. With this in mind, all participants must be free of medical or physical conditions that can create risk to themselves or the other members of the trip group who depend upon them. Medical assistance may not be immediately available. Each person must be willing to comply with College rules and regulations to aid in ensuring the safety of all trip members. With your signature below, you indicate that you understand the nature of the trip and the fact that not all of the stresses and hazards of the trip can be foreseen. You understand that reasonable precautions will be taken to maintain the safety of the trip participants and, further, that you have a personal responsibility to comply with the trip rules and safety policies. You are expected to exercise good judgment and reasonable care that a prudent person would use under the circumstances to maintain the safety of the experience for yourself and others. Failure to do so could result in injury or death to yourself or other members of the trip group.

2. I declare that I have been properly informed of the potential risks of physical injury inherent in an activity of this nature and agree to follow all directions for the prevention of such injury to others or myself and agree not to seek recourse against the College for injuries to myself for which the college is not negligent.
3. I also agree to hold harmless and indemnify the State University College at Oneonta and its agents and employees for the payment of damages arising out of actions commenced by third persons alleging personal injuries, property damage or death arising from my acts, which are negligent, malicious or intentional.
