Introduce yourself in whatever way feels most authentic or comfortable.
Why are you interested in joining Old Louisville Coffee Co-op?
How many barista hours per week do you see yourself working? Do you prefer morning, afternoon, evening, or graveyard shifts? Are there any days or times of day when you are not available, or that you would prefer not to work? Describe your availability and schedule preferences in as much detail as possible.
Once you are fully trained and feeling confident in your role, how comfortable would you be with the idea of working alone? Given the option, would you prefer to work alone or with another co-op member?
On a scale from 1 to 10, how familiar are you with worker co-ops (1 being clueless, 10 being a total co-op nerd). If you have any past experience with co-ops, collectives, or other democratically structured organizations, please expand on those experiences it here.
In accordance with our bylaws, one of the terms of membership is a $1,000 buy-in. This contribution can be made all at once, or can be garnished from your bimonthly compensation. Membership status is effective upon recruitment, but there is a six month probationary period wherein you can resign and be immediately reimbursed the amount you contributed. The purpose of this probationary period is to provide an out for new members, should they decide that co-ownership of our establishment is not the right fit for them. Are you okay with this?
Do you have experience working in coffee? Any other food service, retail, or customer service experience? If so, expand on that here.
The health of our collective depends on our commitment to being anti-racist, anti-supremacist, and constantly mindful of intersectionality: the ways that different types of discrimination (racism, classism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, etc.) overlap, combine, and intersect to inform a person's experience of oppression or privilege. We believe that we have a responsibility to be anti-racist and anti-imperialist, whatever the consequences. Would you say that you share these commitments? What are some ways that you enact them in day to day life?
What is an activity that holds your attention? What is an activity that brings you joy?
In a post-apocalyptic scenario, what strengths, traits, skillsets, or knowledge would you be able to contribute to your community?
Do you have any ties to the Old Louisville neighborhood? Expand on those here.
