Non-Disclosure Agreement
The participant agrees and understands that the workshop/event/training purchased is the copyrighted property of Doula Training Center, LLC and shall not share or sell it to any other entities, partnerships, corporations without the consent of Doula Training Center, LLC.
Commitments
I agree to the Commitment of Participation:
- Make yourself available for observations of prenatal, birth, postpartum visits as available.
- Respect boundaries and guidelines set for all observations with clients.
- Attended a minimum of 90% of meetings (unless you are sick or at a birth).
- Attend a minimum of 75% of monthly Let's Talk Doulas/Community of Practice meetings.
- Complete as a full participant the final project to be presented at end of training.
- Completed your Evaluation at the beginning and the end of the Course.
I agree to the Commitment of Communications:
- Arrive on time for all functions (unless communicated otherwise).
- Return urgent request phone calls within two hours, or within 48 hours for non-urgent requests.
- Participate in Doula functions with respect, compassion, and mutual effort to support and nourish growth.
- Will follow Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice
- Limit personal issues to the outside of meeting times.
Scope of Practice
To ensure the quality of practice and transparency of the doula profession, participant agrees to the following Scope of Practice:
Training/Certification/Licenses
- Doula will have at least completed hands-on doula training and/or be Oregon State Registered as a Traditional Health Worker Doula prior to attending to clients as a Doula.
- Doula will maintain liability insurance, up-to-date certification and/or requirements set forth by state and/or other regulatory bodies.
The Doula’s Role:
- Doula will provide non-medical emotional and physical support and assist clients to gain the necessary evidence-based information to help make informed decisions about their care prenatally through the postpartum period.
- Doula does not diagnose, prescribe, provide treatment, and will not perform any tasks that are deemed clinical or medical. This includes any recommendations or suggestions for medications, either prescribed or over-the-counter, herbs, essential oils, taking blood pressure, temperature, fetal heart tone checks, vaginal examinations, removing of medical equipment such as monitors, blood pressure cuffs, IVs, or other medical equipment placed by the client’s medical team.
- Any suggestions and/or information provided within the role of the doula must be done with the condition that the Doula advises the client to check with their care provider.
- If the Doula has qualifications in alternative or complementary modalities (such as an aromatherapist, massage therapist, acupuncturist, placenta encapsulation, etc.), Doula must make it very clear to the client and others that those modalities are an independent service, outside of the doula’s role.
- Doula will not assist in intentional unassisted childbirth.
- Doula does not speak on behalf of the clients. Instead, Doula encourages clients to ask questions of their care provider and to help address their birthing preferences and concerns. Doula may enhance communication between client and care provider by assisting clients using tools such as “B.R.A.I.N.”.
Professionalism:
- Doula should treat colleagues (other birth workers, medical professionals – doctors, midwives, nurses, hospital staff -- and community members) with respect, courtesy, and fairness.
- Doula will do their best to adhere to rules/regulations of the hospital/facility.
- Doula will treat each client and their family with professional courtesy and respect and not engage in discriminatory biases.
- Doula will not engage in illegal activity.
- Doula will not be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol while serving clients.
Confidentiality/Social Media/Reviews and Testimonials
- Doula will adhere to HIPAA rules.
- Doula agrees to not post on any social media platform about clients, regardless if there is or isn’t any identifying information.
- Reviews and Testimonials are property of DTC, however, may be used with prior written consent.
