Appointment Line Volunteer Job Description
Description:
Appointment line volunteers answer calls to the appointment line during their scheduled shift. Volunteers walk the client through the appointment-making process.
Location:
Remote-Volunteer from anywhere you have cell phone service and internet access.
Key Responsibilities:
Answer calls from clients during your scheduled 4-hour shift,
Ask a series of short questions from a provided online script,
Use your knowledge from training to answer client questions,
Transfer the client to the appropriate clinic,
Communicate client needs to the volunteer coordinator when necessary.
Time Commitment:
Complete training within one month after submitting the volunteer application,
Sign up for at least one 4-hour shift in the first 30 days after training is completed,
Sign up for at least one 4-hour shift every 90 days thereafter.
*Due to the nature of how the appointment line works and how quickly information can change, after more than 90 days of no volunteer activity, the volunteer will be moved to an inactive status, removed from the volunteer email list, and required to complete a refresher training prior to volunteering again.*
Qualifications:
18+ years old
Requirements:
Phone with data and 3-way calling,
Computer or tablet with internet access,
Ability to multitask effectively,
Confident and kind demeanor, clear speaking voice,
Communications:
Bi-monthly volunteer emails,
Quarterly newsletter
Support:
1-1.5 hour training session,
Ongoing support and communication from the Volunteer Coordinator

- Appointment Line Volunteers agree not to make referrals or discuss services that are beyond ASAC’s scope including but not limited to emergency contraception and pregnancy termination,
- Appointment line volunteers agree to use the script provided on the appointment line form if calls for emergency contraception and/or pregnancy termination are received during their shift on the appointment line.
