Selection Criteria
Heart and Soles Scholarships will be awarded under a selection process. All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered: (1) Applicant must be a student at Newton Local Schools or live in the Newton school district if home-schooled (2) Applicant must be a high school senior (3) Applicant should be active in one or more community service activities, such as volunteering for a non-profit organization, church group, etc. A student's involvement in service-oriented school organizations or sports, and/or employment will also be considered. (4) Application must include all items listed in the Application Information before the application deadline.
Heart and Soles Scholarship Application (2026)
This scholarship has been established by the Heart and Soles Scholarship Committee. Heart and Soles will offer a limited number of scholarships to Newton Local Schools students who are pursuing training or education beyond high school.
Selection and Review Committee
The Heart and Soles Scholarship Committee will review all applications and essays. Names and other identifying information will be removed prior to the selection process for fairness. All decisions will be final.
Number of Recipients
The actual number of scholarship recipients will be based upon the dollar amount assigned to the Heart and Soles Scholarship Fund.
Length of Participation
Participation will be approved for one year.
Program Coordination
The administration of the program will be coordinated by the Heart and Soles Committee.
Application Information
Scholarship applications and all required documentation will be submitted online. The application due date is April 17, 2026. All fields are required. If you have any questions, please contact heartandsoles45359@gmail.com. Applicants will be notified of all decisions by April 27, 2026. The below items are required for each submission. Please note that documents saved on a cloud service (i.e. Google Drive) will require the file(s) to be downloaded/saved on a computer, then dragged and dropped onto the application site.
The Heart and Soles Scholarship Application must be completed in full and submitted online no later than April 17, 2026 - No Exceptions
Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Applicants will be notified of decisions by April 27, 2026. Heart and Soles Scholarship award checks will be sent to Newton Schools, and scholarship funds will be disbursed by mail to the institution of higher education when an invoice for education is received by Newton Schools.
