Youth Sports Parent Code of Conduct

Preamble: The essential elements of character building and ethics in sports is embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship. The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these “six pillars of character.”

    I therefore agree:

    • I will not force my child to participate in sports
    • I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my own personal desire to win.
    • I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that can affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
    • I will learn and abide by the rules and policies of the Cypress Bucks, the game and league.
    • I will not come onto the field for any reason during a game, unless invited by a referee.
    • I understand that the Cypress Bucks can suspend individual privileges to attend my child’s game should I behave in a manner that is offensive or rude.
    • I understand that posting negative or offensive comments about the Cypress Bucks or our competitors on social websites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MySpace, etc. is a violation; and will be reviewed by the Board and could result in suspension or removal from the organization.
    • I (and my guests) understand that improper behavior (cursing, fighting, using alcohol, tobacco and/or drugs, showing extreme lack of sportsmanship, etc.) at a game or practice may result in the individual being asked to leave the field by the referee, coach, or Cypress Bucks staff. We also realize that any such behavior may result in our coach (es) being ejected from the game.
    • We will abide by any and all facility rules, keeping in mind that all school campuses and youth sports events are drug, alcohol and tobacco free.
    • I will not criticize the referee and coach openly or directly during or after the games. Any criticism shall be submitted in writing to the Board President.
    • I can not profit from merchandising, product sales or events using the Cypress Bucks name without prior consent, or not sanctioned by the Cypress Bucks Board.
    • We will respect the decisions made by the coaches and will not shout instructions from the sidelines during games or practices, forcing my child to choose between listening to his/her coach or myself.
    • I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
    • I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child feel like a winner every time.
    • If not pre-arranged with a coach, players removed from the court during a game or an official team activity will result in an automatic suspension for the responsible adult. A second offense of said infraction will result in suspension of the player.

By signing below, I understand that if I violate any of the above code of conduct, there will be consequences that include, but are not limited to, suspension from games to termination from the Cypress Bucks organization. Each individual incident will be reviewed and assessed, on a case-to-case basis.
