OPERATIVES, DRIVERS, VISITORS AND OTHER SITE USERS MUST:

Report to the site office upon arrival during standard opening hours

Produce all relevant documentation i.e., delivery note, waste transfer note etc as appropriate.

All site personnel must sign in AND out of site, this should be done individually and never on the behalf of other people.

Obey all instructions given by site control personnel.

Obey the 5-mph speed limit and be alert to all other site users.

Give way to traffic / machinery already manoeuvring in the treatment station area.

Use personal protective equipment(PPE) whilst on site.

The ppe requirements for Fastsource ltd personnel are specified in the relevant company policy documents.

External personnel are expected to wear a minimum of, high-visibility jacket or vest, overalls and safety footwear. hard hat must be worn when personnel are not inside vehicles and machinery.

A stock of spare and emergency ppe is held in the site office.

Exiting wagons hold on to wagon when exiting onto gantry to avoid any slips/falls.

Discharge loads only in the correct stockpile point, and in the manner directed by codes of practice and permits to work etc.

Ensure isolation of the loading zone. request and ensure the vicinity is clear of non-ppe-protected personnel during all loading and unloading operations.

Stay clear of moving vehicles and plant, heed reversing sirens and do not walk behind reversing vehicles/plant.

Do not smoke, eat or drink within the waste processing areas. a hygiene regime is maintained for your safety. Smoking is also not permitted on site at all, please go off site to smoke.

No photography is permitted on site.

The use of mobile phones is not permitted on this site, except within the site offices and canteen. anyone found using a mobile phone on site will be disciplined and removed from site immediatly.

Immediately report any dangerous situation or accident to site supervision / management staff. ensure that no waste remains on the compound floor.

Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed waste transfer note copies for waste deliveries and delivery notes for aggregate exports must be prepared for retention at the site office.

You are not permitted to touch anything, this includes waste, items of plant and vehicles etc.

Before leaving the site, check your vehicle is safe for the highway e.g., no loose load content; no punctures; no stones trapped between tandem wheels etc.

Ensure all wagons travel no more than 20mph when travelling down Caldervale road!

Site housekeeping

Ensure that your work area is tidy and free from any rubbish

Waste disposal and recycling compounds are provided on site

Spot checks will be completed by the HSEQ manager. Rubbish is a hazard and must be processed.

Accident reporting

The appointed first aider on this site is Jonathan Davison (site manager), Tony Rewcastle (shovel driver) & Casey Utley (office)

All accidents must be reported immediately to the HSEQ manager, Jonathan Davison

Any accidents/incidents that are reportable under RIDDOR are to be reported immediately to the site manager.

Fire procedure

Raise the alarm at activation points.

Locate an escape route.

Make your way calmly to the designated meeting point (side car park) and stay there.

If the area contains smoke get down as low as possible and proceed as quickly as possible along your exit route.

Specific Site Hazards!

Working at Height: Don’t climb steep piles, put in a walkway to your machine (excavator, shovel, crusher/screener). Use the steps provided, using three points of contact.

Vehicle Movement & Plant: We will always tell drivers when the plant is in operation, and where to proceed to the correct stock piles, for tipping and loading.

Asbestos: We are asbestos trained in the yard. If you do see any alert a member of the management team, who will attend to it.

Lifting Operations: All our machines have lifting certs.

Hazardous Contaminated Loads: This would include Tyres, Gas Bottles, Wet Plaster Board, and Lithium Batteries.

Fuelling of Machines & Wagons: You must wear gloves, and refrain from smoking whilst fuelling up.

Contractor site rules

All personnel must receive a site induction prior to commencing work on site. No induction, no work.

All site personnel must sign in and out of site. This should be done individually and never on the behalf of other persons.

Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is to be worn by all persons on site at all times.

Contractors must make the site manager aware of your presence on site, so areas of work can be secured prior to commencing, and when finished report to site contact and sign off site.

Drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated on this site. Anyone found under the influence will be disciplined and removed from site immediately.

All food and drink are to be consumed within the prescribed welfare facilities compound. Use the rubbish bins provided and be mindful not to leave scraps of food as these could attract vermin.

The use of mobile phones is not permitted on this site, except within the site offices and canteen. Anyone found using a mobile phone on site will be disciplined and removed from site immediately.

Keep all areas of the site tidy and free from discarded materials.

Inform site management immediately should you discover any hazardous materials or activity.

Smoking is only permitted in smoking designated areas.

Only approved trained employees are permitted to use the plant and equipment on the site. Sub-contractors are to provide their own plant and equipment at all times.

Misuse of equipment or unsafe practices will not be tolerated. Anyone found doing this or permitting this will be subject to disciplinary action.

No work activities will be permitted to commence until a suitable risk assessment and method statement (SSoW) has been submitted to (and agreed with) the HSEQ Manager.

Do not interfere with or remove any signage, fencing or dust screens without expressed permission.

Do not interfere with existing gas, water or electric services which may become exposed during work.

Ensure that all materials brought onto site are handled, stored, and disposed of in a safe manner.

No liquid must be poured down drains on this site without the permission of the site contact.

If any chemicals are to be used on site, this must be notified to the site contact and a MSDS supplied. Waste chemicals must be removed off site on completion.

Contractors are responsible for providing suitable PPE to their staff and ensuring appropriate training has been given prior to works commencing.

Our buildings are within close proximity to a chemical plant. Please be mindful of any works taking place near such areas and ask the site manager if unsure!

Contractor site housekeeping

Ensure that your work area is tidy and free from any rubbish.

Waste disposal & recycling compounds are provided on site. Please make use of this facility when approved by either the site manager or site supervisor.

Spot checks will be completed by the HSEQ manager. Rubbish is a hazard, contractors not cleaning up during and after their work will be issued with warnings.

Any cleaning costs incurred by Fastsource Ltd after contractor’s work will be passed on to the offending contractor.
