    •  CNA Course Description

      Certified Nursing Assistant’s main role is to provide basic care to patients, as well as assist them in daily activities they might have trouble with on their own. As a CNA you will report to either a RN or LPN, you will also spend more time with the patients than any other team members. Working as a team member, you will take vital signs, and assist patients with bathing dressing, feeding, and other patient activities as needed. Students spend time in classroom and at clinical sites where basic nursing skills and practices will be taught, learned and tested upon.  While at clinical sites students will perform and master basic nursing skills on long-term care patients. Students are taught the skills necessary to become employed as an entry-level CNA. A CNA’s primary responsibility is to assist patients with their daily activities. The core functions of a CNA on the job include: Bathing and dressing patients. Taking vital signs, helping patient with personal hygiene, assisting patient with transportation, and assist with any daily living activities as needed. It is also important as a CNA to be sensitive of patients’ needs not only physical but emotional, along with having good communication with their family members.

      ·         Assisting with feeding and nutrition-related tasks

      Qualifications:

      1.    Student must be at least 18 years of age

      2.    Proof of current Tuberculosis test (within 6 mos. prior to class start date maximum) must be provided to the instructor the first night of class

      3.    Registration with Family Care Safety Registry is required

      4.    Tuition, supplies, and fees paid in full

       

      Requirements and Fees:

      ·         Students are required to wear scrubs at their own expense (no specific color or pattern). Scrubs must be worn during all classes, clinical training, and testing

      ·         Complete 75 hours of in-class instruction and 100 hours of supervised clinical training in a state-authorized facility

      ·         State exam fee of $130 paid separately and due at the end of course before testing

      ·         This course is not eligible for financial aid

      ·         100% attendance is required

      State Exam Testing Fee Policy:
      FTC must be notified within 24 hours of the state exam of anyone NOT taking the exam. If a student fails to show for a scheduled initial exam or fails to give a 24 hour cancellation notice, the $130 exam fee will be forfeited. A student will not be allowed to reschedule an initial exam unless the $130 reschedule exam fee is paid. Exam fees are non-refundable. Students must schedule the initial exam at least two weeks prior to the exam date.
      Students scheduling a repeat exam will be responsible for paying an $80 repeat exam fee. Students must schedule the repeat exam at least two weeks prior to the exam date.
      Student must complete the entire course (including passing the final exam) within one (1) year of the class start date.

    • Admission Procedure- Certified Nursing Assistant

       

      Step 1

      Submit Application with Fee to Franklin Technology Center

      In order to be considered for admission into Franklin Technology Center, the first step in the process is to receive an application packet and complete the following:

      ·         Must be at least 18 years of age

      ·         Read the program sheet

      ·         Social Security Number is required to complete application

      ·         Return signed application form, consent forms if applicable, and the $765 tuition and course fee’s in full to the address below or submitted online at franklintechnologycenter.com.

       

      Step 2

      Registration

      You must register with Family Care Safety Registry.

       

      Step 4

      Acceptance into Program

      The program Coordinator will send out a letter of acceptance, email you personally, or contact you via phone upon acceptance into the program.

       

      Step 5

      Orientation

      All students will be required to attend orientation prior to the first day of class. Students will be contacted regarding program-specific orientation date, time and location after acceptance.

       

      Step 6

      Tuberculosis Test

      You must submit results of CURRENT Tuberculosis test (within 6 months prior to class start date at maximum) on the first night of class to your instructor.

    • Refund Policy

      If a class is cancelled by Franklin Technology Center, a full refund will be given. If an enrollee cancels or drops a class on or after the start date, see Student Handbook for Refund Policy. I have read and agree to this refund policy.
