Ethnic Based Statistics
Completion of this part of the form is voluntary but please help us to improve our Education Service by providing the information you feel is correct for your child in each of the following sections.
Ethnicity is a category of people who identify with each other based on similarities, such as common ancestral, language, social, culture or national experiences. Examples may be White – British, White – Other, Black – African, etc.
First language (also native language, father tongue/mother tongue, arterial language) is the language or are the languages a person has been exposed to during early development and continues to be exposed to in the home or community. Examples may be English, Spanish, Polish, etc.
National identity is one’s identity or sense of belonging to one state or to one nation. Examples may be British, Irish, etc.
