• Why Don't You... Play Chess For Your County?

  • Each year Middlesex participates in the County Championships. It is run in 2 stages:

Regional - Middlesex enter various teams in the Southern Counties Chess Union Championship. The league competitions act as a qualifier for the National Stage and runs from October to March.

National - a knock-out competition run by the English Chess Federation between April-July. Teams who qualify for this stage are drawn against teams from other Unions

All matches take place on a Saturday

Eligibility for teams is based on your ECF grade, and where you live or work, or where you were born or educated. Membership of any chess club affiliated to a county also qualifies you!
