Desk Assistant Qualifications
- DA candidates must have and maintain a 2.5 Cumulative Institutional Grade Point Average (GPA).
- DAs must be able to work effectively with University Students in a residential community.
- DAs must demonstrate a sense of job responsibility and maturity.
- DAs must be a good role model and follow University and residence hall policies.
- DAs must be in good judicial standing with the University and USA Housing.
Desk Assistant Position Description
The Desk Assistant is a paraprofessional position within USA Housing. The Desk Assistant is an undergraduate student at the University who qualifies for student employment or work-study based on the guidelines set for by the Student Employee Personnel Policy Handbook. The Desk Assistant position requires the student to live on campus. The Desk Assistant serves to support the day to day administrative operations of the Community Office. While this position may not exceed 20 hours per week, in most cases this position will work fewer hours per week. This position is expected to display professional conduct as well as a high level of customer service. The Desk Assistant is supervised and trained by a Residence Life Coordinator overseeing the community.
Desk Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day administrative and communicative tasks of a community office.
- Manage office communication to include answering telephone calls.
- Provide correspondence and messages to area staff.
- Provide basic information to parents, students, and university colleagues regarding housing.
- Participate in residence hall openings and closings.
- Report Central Utilities, maintenance, pest control, and laundry, etc. concerns to the appropriate office.
- Provide administrative support as needed.
- Assist with daily key inventories and returns.
- Maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Assist with check-in and check-outs.
- Execute other duties as assigned.
Desk Assistant Compensation
$8.35/hour for up to 20 hours per week.
We are specifically interested in individuals who can work prior to school starting as early as the end of July/early August and then continue on through the school year.
