Call for Artists
Lowell's Cultural Affairs and Special Events Office (CASE) is seeking a qualified artist or a team of artists to paint a 2D street art project at the corner of Central Street and Middle Street in Downtown Lowell.
General Information
In partnership with the Economic Development Office and the Canalway Cultural District, CASE is seeking to activate the corner of Central St. and Middle St. by adding inviting and accessible street art. The artwork cannot feature any commercial, political, or religious content and should be appropriate for viewers of all ages. This mural will be temporary, lasting two to three months. The project goal is to transform a large vacant corner in a highly trafficked area of downtown Lowell into a piece of art and showcase Lowell’s artistic community. There is a possibility this may become an ongoing exhibit space if regular funding becomes available.
Additional Details
Site Dimensions: 1,000 Square feet, 33x33 square. City staff will pressure wash the site. Proposals will be reviewed by CASE’s Creative Committee with representatives from CASE and private citizens.
Budget for this Project: $3,500(including materials and labor) plus an additional $250.00 for the purchase of an approved sidewalk sealant.
