• Welcome Par Duathlon participants,

We can't wait to see you at the start line for the first event of the season!

  • While official Covid-19 guidelines have eased, we will keep some tried and tested measures to reduce the risk of racing with us in the 2022 season. From self-marking for the start at home to virtual race briefings, this pack walks you through the different elements that you need to be aware of prior and during the event:

    • Tabs at the top of this pack allow you to navigate to a specific section. Kick off with the GET READY tab for a timeline of what to do when!
    • The  EVENT tab is a one-stop shop for all elements of the event from registration to bike check in, getting changed and post race awards
    • Head to the BRIEFING tab for your mandatory virtual briefing. The notes lay out the race rules while key hazards are marked on interactive maps
    • Find your individual start and registration times on the START LIST tab
  • Missing any information in this pack? Let us know. Email: intotri.team@gmail.com

    ONE-WAY SYSTEM

Please follow the yellow arrows to registration and the transition zone. Once registered and set up in transition, proceed to the spectator zone to await your start.

  • REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Come prepared and be done in a few seconds to help us avoid queues.

    Step 1:

    • Check in online 5 days before the event on START LIST tab. If you entered as a BTF member, you will need to upload your BTF Membership ID
    • Bring a form of ID on event day (adult athletes only)
    • A marshal will check you have body-marked yourself for the start (see BRIEFING tab for details).
    • Note: If you have not paid for a day license online (£1 juniors, £6 adults), you will be asked to produce a valid BTF license, either as a download on your phone or printout. Forgotten or out of date licenses will incur regular day license fees + £1 admin charge (cash or card payment available).

    Step 2:

Pick up your event pack and safety pins (if needed). The event pack contains:

    • Two race numbers that are worn during the cycle (on your back) and run (in front). Please note any medical conditions or allergies on the back. If using a race belt, please display your race numbers back to back to be visible in case the number flips up.
    • A numbered sticker that goes on the front of your head tube. To pick up your bike post event, marshals will check that your sticker matches your race number. No match, no bike.
    • A brightly coloured helmet sticker (Adult Super Sprint distance entries only), allowing marshals to route you correctly on course

    Step 3:

Pick up your timing chip and velcro strap to be worn around your left ankle - this must be worn throughout all 3 disciplines and will need to be handed in at the finish line (£20 fee for lost chips).

  •  BIKE CHECK-IN
  • Once registered, follow the one way system to wheel your bike to transition (see yellow arrows on registration map above).

Marshals will check your helmet strap and handlebar end plugs before you are allowed to place your bike on your designated rack. You will find your racking number on the START LIST tab.

Please rack your bike by looping the saddle over the horizontal bar, one bike facing left, next right (4 bikes per rack) and store your kit to the left of your bike (when looking at the rack). Remember, no boxes allowed in transition. A small soft backed backpack is fine but keep your kit to a minimum as space is at a premium.

Remember to stick the number label from your event pack to the front of your head tube. To pick up your bike post event, marshals will check that the sticker on your bike matches your race number. No match, no bike.

Collecting bikes & kit post event:

Please note, to help with social distancing and reduce crowds, you will be able to pick up your bike at any time once you have finished your event. Please check-in and out with the transition marshals to verify that your race number matches the numbered bike sticker.

  •  TRANSITION SETUP
  • HANDY TIPS

    Organise

When setting up transition, only take the essentials in with you. This will help you get in and out of transition quicker with minimal fuss and stress!

    Visualise

Transition can often be a busy and sometimes confusing place on event day. Make sure you know your swim exit, bike out & in and run out to help gain those precious seconds! Familiarise yourself with the one-way system and look out for something visual near your bike slot, making it easy to spot when you are running into transition.

    Prepare

Make sure your bike is set up in the right gear. You don’t want to be left struggling in the first few meters of the event.

  • TRANSITION MAP (senior event)

  • TRANSITION MAP (junior event)

  •  GETTING CHANGED
  • Please arrive dressed for the start with extra layers on top depending on weather conditions. This will allow you to take off no longer needed layers in the transition zone and help with hygiene rules as space in the changing area in the Holiday Park's pool area is very limited. Please only keep the gear you need for the cycle and run leg in the transition zone to reduce clutter. Store unnecessary kit in your car or near registration at you own risk.

  •  POST EVENT & PRIZES
  • Please proceed through the finish arch, keeping the finish area clear for other participants to run in. Make sure you take off your chip and place it in the bucket provided. While we would love to hand you your well deserved medal personally, we have opted to keep them individually wrapped for you to pick up on a table in the finish area to comply with our hygiene rules. We hope to be able to relax this rule later in the Series.

There will be water available at the finish area. Please use it to refill your own bike bottle to limit any waste. Hot and cold drinks, as well as food will be available to purchase near the finish.

Presentations will be outside at the finish area at approximately 12:00pm (adults) and 4:30pm (juniors) with prizes awarded to the 1st to 3rd place winners, male and female, in the age groups below (age as of 31-Dec of participating year). Giant Helston and Whirlwind Sports will provide vouchers for age group winners for the senior sprint events, goodie bags for the juniors. We would love it if everyone stayed for the presentation to create a buzzing atmosphere for the winners.

    • Senior Event: Open: 15-39y, Vet: 40-49y, Super Vet: 50-59y, Ultra Vet: 60+
    • Junior Event: 8y, 9-10y, 11-12y, 13-14y, 15-16y
  •  TIMING & RESULTS
  • You will receive a chip-timing device for the duration of the race. Competitors must wear their allocated chip on their left ankle throughout the event and ensure they place it in the bucket provided at the end of the race. Lost chips are subject to a £20 fee to replenish our stock.

We will upload all timings within 24h of the event to intotri.com/cornish-tri

  •  SPECTATORS
  • Spectators are most welcome at IntoTRI’s Cornish Tri Series. In Par, we have a dedicated specatator zone with close up views over the transition and finish area, as well as parts of the run course (see map in registration section above). For safety and security reasons spectators can NOT enter the following areas:

    • Transition zone (exception: bike drop off/pick up for the junior event at certain times for one parent only (marked at registration))
    • Finish line
  •  BE SUPPORTIVE
  • IntoTRI’s Cornish Tri Series is staged on open roads (adult event only). Please be mindful of other road users and pedestrians/cyclists. Marshals are placed at strategic points to ensure your safety and keep the impact on other road users to a minimum. Please follow their directions at all times, they are there to make the event enjoyable and safe for all, not to prevent PBs.

    Getting Help

If you have any problems whilst out on the course, please stay where you are and tell the next competitor that you see. We will get out to you as soon as possible and bring both you and/or your bike back to the leisure centre. If you see a competitor in trouble please notify a marshal who will be in contact with the organiser via mobile phone.

    Withdrawal

If you withdraw from the event at any time, please let the event director know as we may think that you are still out on the course and will go to search for you. Contact details: Michael Burkert

    THE COURSE

The Scoot and Bike routes follow a flat, tarmacked course on a private road, not usually open to the public. Children complete 2x laps of the course on their scooter before picking up their bikes from their parents, who will be waiting in a dedicated area. After cycling 2x laps, participants drop off bikes with their parents and head out for a 400m run to the finish, where they can collect their well deserved medal.
