Advanced Audition Technique, Self-Tape & Scene Study

Prerequisite: Audition Technique & Self-Tape and Intro to the Chubbuck Technique.

In this advanced class with Maureen Cashin Bolog, founder of Actor’s Craft and certified Chubbuck Technique instructor, actors refine their audition and performance skills by building on the Chubbuck and Haber techniques, while incorporating insights from Michael Shurtleff’s guideposts and other professional audition strategies.

Students first audition their scenes, working the way actors do in today’s industry—often on camera or in front of a simple background where connection, intention, and authenticity must carry the performance. Actors then put the scenes up with their partners, expanding the work into deeper scene study.

Drawing from Ivana Chubbuck’s newly revised The Power of the Actor, the class includes new exercises designed to deepen emotional truth, strengthen objectives, and create dynamic, relationship-driven performances.

Learn to live truthfully, moment to moment, in this dynamic class where emotional honesty meets creative spontaneity. Dramatic Improvisation is designed for actors, writers, and creatives who want to deepen their connection to character, sharpen their instincts, and stay fully present in relationship-driven scenes. Inspired by the powerful techniques of Uta Hagen, Sanford Meisner, and Viola Spolin, this class blends structured realism, emotional depth, and playful improvisation to expand your artistic range. Through exercises in substitution, repetition, sensory work, and improvisational scenes, you’ll learn to react honestly instead of "performing," access authentic emotion, trust your instincts, and build grounded, believable characters. -- Taught by Maureen Cashin Bolog of Actor’s Craft—a seasoned acting coach known for her warm, encouraging, yet professional teaching style—this class creates a supportive space where growth happens naturally. Maureen meets each student where they are, helping them stretch creatively while feeling safe to take risks. Create footage that gets you seen—not ignored. These private, on-camera close-up sessions are designed for actors of all ages to create powerful, castable clips that clearly showcase type, range, and the ability to carry high-stakes moments. Kids, teens, and adults may work across generations to build meaningful, relationship-driven scenes that translate into compelling footage for clips and reels.

Actors are expected to select their 2.5 minute, 2-person scene, complete script analysis, rehearse in advance with their scene partner outside of the session, and arrive fully prepared with any necessary props. Each session includes professional close-up filming with dedicated coverage for each actor by a stationary camera, professional coaching, and immediate adjustments with reshoots—mirroring real on-set expectations. Please bring a thumb drive to collect your footage.

The result is footage reflecting your skill set in high-stakes scenes, stronger on-camera technique, greater confidence, and the ability to deliver grounded performances quickly.

Parent or guardian is responsible for their child or teen when rehearsing, and may be present during Studio Session.

Time is rounded up in 10-minute increments, with a one-hour minimum. Sessions are scheduled and paid in advance by appointment. If you do not have a scene partner, you may request to be added to a partner list.
